Department of Law, University of Calcutta, Kolkata Admission 2026: Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Cutoff & Application Form

The Department of Law University of Calcutta admissions are offered at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Department of Law CU admissions are offered in 3 different programmes namely, BA LLB (Hons), LLM and PhD in Law. All the courses are offered for full time, wherein the integrated BALLB course is offered for the duration of 5 years, LLM and PhD courses are offered for the duration of 2 years each. 

Department of Law CU Admissions to all courses are based on qualifying entrance examinations. For undergraduate and postgraduate courses, students need to appear for  CULET entrance exams. But the Department of Law CU Kolkata admits only those candidates who are eligible to appear for examinations. For UG programmes 10+2 HS pass is mandatory with the required passing percentage. For postgraduate, it is mandatory to pass LLB-related degrees, and for PhD courses it is mandatory to pass LLM with the required percentage.

• Create an account with a valid email and mobile number.

• Complete the online application form, providing personal and academic details.

• Upload scanned documents. 

• Pay the application fee (BA.LLB: Rs 500 general/Rs 250 SC-ST-OBC-PwD; LL.M: Rs 500) via net banking/debit card/credit card.

• Submit the application and download the acknowledgement slip for future reference.

The Department of Law CU kolkata offers BA LLB course, with a seat intake of 120. Department of Law CU admissions are based on CULET scores with eligibility being passed in the 10+2 HS level. 

Department of Law University of Calcutta BA LLB Admission Process:

• The candidates need to first check the eligibility to gain admissions in BA LLB programme

• The candidates need to appear and qualify CULET-UG 

• Once the candidate clears the examinations, e-counselling rounds are conducted which are totally based on CULET merit and college preference.

• If the candidates get admitted, they will be given an admission slip, later to which they need to submit documents for verification at Hazra Campus.

• Pay semester fees to confirm admission.

The Department of Law CU Kolkata PG admissions are offered in LLM programme which is a 2 year programme, with seat intake capacity of 42 students. Admissions to these programmes are based on the marks obtained in LLB programmes.

• The candidates need to check if they are eligible for LLM programmes and have scored the minimum percentage in their graduation. 

• The candidates need to appear for the entrance examination if required.

• E-counseling is done based on entrance and academic merit.

• Document verification and payment of fees at the Department of Law is done once the candidate is selected. 

Department of Law CU Kolkata admissions are based on academic merit in the graduation field. The seat intake for LLB courses is not explicitly listed but is based on the UGC norms and guidelines.

• The students need to check the eligibility criteria and then submit the research proposal and LLM marks.

• The college will conduct a Departmental entrance test and interview if required .

• Once the student appears for any examination, the selection will be based on Merit list publication and document verification.

• The final selection will be done based on fee payment to confirm admission.
