The Directorate of Distance Education, Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta (DDE-KU) has become a distinguished distance education institution with a global reputation in Karnataka. It offers a plethora of undergraduate and postgraduate programs catering to students with varied opportunities for quality distance learning.  The admission process at DDE-KU generally starts from August-September for the particular academic year. The university offers several programs including BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, MA, M.Sc, M.Com, and MBA, to name a few. Each of these programshas a particular eligibility criterion and admission procedure. In most UG programs, an applicant with a 10+2 from a recognized board is eligible for an application. PG courses are mainly allowed with a candidate having a bachelor's degree in that particular discipline from a recognized university. 

Application Process

The generally followed process for DDE-KU programs includes:

1. Visit the official website of DDE-KU.

2. Choose your desired program and check the eligibility criteria. 

3. Download and fill the application for the chosen program. Please double-check for accuracy.

4. Gather all documents that are in general requirements:

• Passport size photographs
• Mark sheets of qualifying examinations (10th, 12th, Bachelor's degree as applicable)
• Proof of Date of Birth
• Category Certificate (if applicable).
• Any other documents as specified for that particular program

5. Submit the duly filled application form along with the required documents and relevant application fees. Submission can be made online or through post as per the regulations of the institute.

6. For the MBA program, information regarding the entrance exam, including the date and center details, will be sent to the eligible candidates.

7. Admission confirmation will be sent by the institute to the eligible candidates after processing their application.

8. Completeness of admission procedure will be finalized by paying the appropriate fees and submitting any other documents that may be required by the institution.

Degree wise Admission Process

BA Programs: DDE-KU has different combinations for BA such as History, Economics, Political Science, English, Kannada, Sociology, and Education. The admission for BA programs is defined by the performance of candidates in the 10+2 examination and an entrance test is not required for these programs.

B.Sc Programs: The institute offers B.Sc programs in combinations such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Admission is granted on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination, namely the 10+2 in the relevant science subjects.

BBA and B.Com: Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam can apply for these courses. Admission is usually granted on a merit basis in the qualifying examination.

MA Programs: The MA Programs offered by DDE-KU are in a variety of subjects including Kannada, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History and Archaeology, Education, and English. Candidates who hold a bachelor's degree in the relevant subject or a related field can apply for these programs.

M.Sc Programs: M.Sc programs in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Botany, and Zoology are offered by the institute. Admission into these programs requires that the bachelor's degree be in the respective subject or a related field.

MBA Program: A unique admission process is followed by DDE-KU for the MBA program. An entrance test for this program is conducted at designated places (towns/cities). Candidates registering for the program will be acquainted with the details regarding the entrance test.

Candidates Graduating from B.Com and subjects equivalent to that are eligible to apply for the M.Com.

Library and Information Science: B.Lib.I.Sc and M.Lib.I.Sc are both offered by DDE-KU. The B.Lib.I.Sc program is open to graduates from any discipline; however, M.Lib.I.Sc usually demands a B.Lib.I.Sc degree.
