About College:

The Farook College is located in the city of Kozhikode, formerly known as Calicut. This city is one of the educational hubs of the state of Kerala. It is also famous as the site where the famous Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama first landed during his iconic trip to India, in the year 1498. The Farook College is itself one of the older colleges in the region, having been established back in 1948, immediately after the country’s independence. It is affiliated to the University of Calicut, which as the name suggests, is also based in Kozhikode. This affiliation, ensures the approval of the UGC (University Grants Commission).

The college campus is spread over a total area worth fifty- six acres of land. The Rouzathol Uloom Association was behind the setting up of this college. It was then led by Moulavi Abdussabah Ahmed Ali. The Kozhikode- based Farook College Farook College been accredited by the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council), earning an A grade rating in it. A separate IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) has been created to this end, to ensure that all the terms of the NAAC are complied with. An AQAR (Annual Quality Assurance Report) gets generated to quantify the results. The Ford Foundation in New York has bestowed upon this college the tag of Campus Diversity, for which a special grant has been awarded.

There is a huge diversity of courses available here, at both the UG as well as the PG levels. At the undergrad level, to start with, the B.A. is offered in the areas of Malayalam, English Language & Literature, Sociology, Economics, Arabic & Islamic History and for the unique field of Multimedia Communication. These are the BMMC (Bachelor’s in Multi Media Communication) and the MCJ (Master’s in Communication and Journalism). The highly popular BBA option also exists.
