GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research (GLBIMR), Greater Noida, or....
The G.L. Bajaj Institute of Management and Research (GLBIMR) is located in the city of Greater Noida, part of the Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh (UP) state. Greater Noida, is also a part of the National Capital Region (NCR) surrounding Delhi, and so needless to say, benefits from its prime positioning within a business hub. The GLBIMR is affiliated to the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), located in the state capital of Lucknow. The AKTU was earlier known as the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU). This affiliation, ensures the approval of the UGC (University Grants Commission). The management courses at the G. L. Bajaj Institute of Management and Research, have meanwhile been ratified by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).
The college has been christened after the Late Shri Ganesh Lal Ji Bajaj. He was a foremost industrialist, philanthropist, educationist and social worker during his time. He founded the Rajiv Memorial Academic Welfare Society, to develop several educational ventures. The late 1990s saw the flurry of the first such institutions being opened up. This college only came up in the year 2007. There are several other ventures run by the group, in the state of UP, mainly in the cities of Mathura and in Greater Noida. The group dabbles in the academic areas of management, engineering, dentistry, medical and in education, plus also running schools and research centres. The combined acreage of all these institutions runs in over three- hundred acres of land. The GLBIMR itself covers twelve acres of land in UP.
The GLBIMR is solely dedicated to management education. For this, it provides the two- year Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), which thanks to the AICTE recognition, stands equivalent to any MBA in the country. In the MBA, the first year has a common curriculum to all. Students go through all major subject areas, before deciding on there are of choice in the second year during their summer internship. They may then opt for specialising from the areas of- Finance, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Information technology, International Business and in Operations Management. Admissions to any branch of the PGDM is via any of the nationally or state- wise recognized entrance exams such as CAT (Common Admission Test), MAT (Management Aptitude Test), XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), CMAT (Common Management Aptitude Test) or ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions).
Post the results of the concerned tests being declared, shortlisted students need to appear for the PI (Personal Interview) and GD (Group Discussion) or WAT (Written Ability Test) round. Research is another important aspect of the G.L. Bajaj Institute of Management and Research. For this purpose, the GLBIMR has curated its own research journal, that chronicles, all important findings on campus. This one is known as the Journal of Research in Management (JRM). Several MDPs (Management Development Programmes) have also been held on campus. These are held for industry professionals. Some of the subject areas on which these MDPs have been conducted include- Advanced Data Analytics, HR Analytics for Organizational Excellence, Leadership Excellence, Digital Marketing, Talent Management, Finance for non- Finance Executives, and few more.
The GLBIMR also offers a Certification Programme on Digital Marketing, which is provided by the MSME. It is aimed at working professionals, seeking a skill upgrade. An annual international conference is also held on campus, titled the ICASSA. Global dignitaries get invited for this summit. A Global Talk Series is also held here, inviting speakers on Global Issues in Strategic Management. The speakers’ list here includes global academicians, corporate bigwigs and government agency representatives. Another popular event here, is the Case Study Analysis Competition, inviting applicants from all over the country. In order to forge better relationships between academia and the industry, an annual HR Conclave is also held, here at the Greater Noida based- G.L. Bajaj Institute of Management and Research.
The GLBIMR has also been extremely proactive in sealing collaborative agreements with foreign universities. This helps in research collaboration, facilitating exchange programmes and generating consulting assignments. Such partners of the university are located all over the world, in the countries of the USA, Hong Kong, Singapore and in UK. These partners are- the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), Hong Kong University (HKU), Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Imperial College in London respectively. The library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes.
All this has further fuelled the right placement opportunities here. Some of the top recruiters from campus in recent years, have been the likes of- Microsoft, Deutsche Bank, Airtel, Tommy Hilfiger, LG, Daikin, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IDBI Bank, Hero, Bosch, Tech Mahindra, KPMG, American Express, Puma, Vodafone, Axis Bank, ITC, Capital IQ, TCS, Yakult, Fidelity, Accenture, RBS, Ajanta Quartz, Blue Star, Bisleri, Birla Soft, Coca Cola, DTDC, Ericsson, Fiat, Franchise India, Godrej, Cognizant, HDFC Bank, Godfrey Philips, Indus Ind Bank, ING Vyasa Life Insurance, Hindustan Times, India Bulls, Genpact, JCB, NIIT, Parle, Moser Baer, NTPC, Mother Dairy, Maruti Suzuki, L&T Infotech, Radisson, and several more.
