The B.Com. (Honours) Course is of three years’ duration and the degree is awarded by the University of Calcutta after successful completion of the course. During the course period, the University of Calcutta holds Six examinations, namely Semester I, II, III, IV, V and VI.
There are Twenty Six (26) Compulsory papers in the B.Com. (Honours) course including one Compulsory paper of 100 marks on Environmental Studies. The total marks including the paper on Environmental Studies is 2,600. The syllabus of study consists of Honours Group (Thirteen papers), and General Groups (Eleven papers), one Language Group (One paper) and Environmental Studies.
Admission Process
Admission procedure for B.Com.(Hons) starts generally in the month of June i.e. after the declaration of the result of Higher Secondary Examination by the WBCHSE. A Candidate intending to take B.Com.(Honours) the course must fulfill the following criteria:
1- Minimum marks (in H.S or equivalent 10+2 examination) required for the online application.
- For Unreserved Category:75% in aggregate and 60% in any of the subjects mentioned below:-
(*Subjects: Accounting, Business Economics including Business Mathematics, Business Organization, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business Mathematics, Secretarial practice and office Procedure, Financial Accounting, Elements of Cost Accountancy and Auditing, Book Keeping, Commerce, Cost Accountancy and Principles of Management)
- For Reserved Category:10% relaxation in marks for OBC-A & OBC-B and 25% relaxation in marks for SC & ST.
2- Applicant must have passed (H.S. or equivalent exam) with at least five recognized subjects including English (full marks for each subject not less than 100). A Candidate shall have to give his/her preference for the Morning or Day section by mentioning 1 or 2 in the Admission Form.
Eligibility Criteria
Passed 10+2 Examination or its equivalent in 2020 and preceding 5(five) years i.e. upto 2015 with at least five subjects of 100 marks each including English and any one of the following related subjects, viz., Accountancy, Business Economics including Business Mathematics, Business Organisation, Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business Studies, Office Practice and Secretarial, Financial Accounting, Elements of Cost Accountancy and Auditing, Book Keeping, Commerce, Cost Accountancy& Principle of Management, Commercial Law and preliminaries of Auditing, Costing and Taxation.
2. Secured the minimum marks as indicated below:
i. For General category candidates: 75% in aggregate and 60% in the related subject.
ii. For OBC-A and OBC-B Candidates of West Bengal only: 67.5%in aggregate and 54% in the related subject.
iii. For SC/ST Candidates of West Bengal only: 56.25% in aggregate and 45% in the related subject.
iv. Seats are reserved for persons with disabilities in each category as per government rules.
