Government Aizawl College, Mizoram Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college library is located on the second floor of the college building. The collection includes course study books, reference books, journals, etc. Several journals, magazines, and newspapers are subscribed to on a weekly, monthly, yearly, and quarterly basis.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure for the students.

The college canteen is situated on the ground floor of the building at Sikulpuikawn, with a seating capacity of about 60 people.  

The college has good networking for the alumni association.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students. A small room is allotted to the clinic on the 5th floor of the college building. It is open to all students, teaching faculty, and office staff at the Govt. Aizawl College is free of cost.  

The college has a very small gym, which was set up in August 2018. It has a full set of gym equipment, including a treadmill, a stationary bike, a bench press, barbells, dumbbells, a machine fly, etc. However, due to the size of the room, which is not conducive to healthy exercise, the gym is not functional. It is expected that once the college shifts to the new campus at Mualpui, there will be proper accommodation for the college gym, and students and staff can utilize it for health and fitness purposes.

The college has a girls’ hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students at the new Mualpui campus.

The college has a boys’ hostel facility, which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.

The college has sports facilities for all students.

The college has a parking space facility for its faculty, staff, and students.

The College is provided with a college bus by the Government of Mizoram, plying every day to pick up and drop off students. It is also utilized by the teaching and non-teaching staff, and for important field trips within and outside the state whenever necessary.

The college also provides extracurricular activities to encourage students.

The majority of classrooms are equipped with overhead projectors to enable and enhance digital learning. Audio speakers are available for audiovisual learning, and the larger rooms are also equipped with digital podiums. Projectors, projection screens, laptops, sound systems, smart podiums, tablets, laser pointers, and mobile phones are all utilized in classrooms for effective digitized curriculum delivery.

The college also has different types of clubs that are available for students.

Example: Youth Adventure Club

The GAC-Youth Adventure Club was founded on August 7th, 1982, and registered under the Govt of Mizoram Firms and Societies Registration Act in 1988. It is affiliated with the National Adventure Foundation (N.A.F.), New Delhi. The GAC YAC was the first ever Youth Adventure Club in Mizoram and was found to be such a welcome initiative that many other colleges and communities in Aizawl and other parts of Mizoram subsequently also formed their clubs.
