Government Medical College Palakkad has made its place in maps from year 2014 and the college is situated in East Yakkara, Kunnathurmedu PO, Palakkad-Distan, Kerala. Being an affiliated college, medical education here comes under the NMC approvals which gives quality education to its students. The college to be specific is co-educational it has total strength of 400 students, and the strength of faculty members is 152. With only one programme, the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), the Government Medical College, Palakkad has emerged as a rapidly growing medical college in the area.
Government Medical College Palakkad has all the basic amenities that make learning effective and make the student’s overall growth. This facility features a health centre where first aid for students who fall ill whilst at the learning institution can be administered. A good library plays a role of a medical library where doctors get necessary books and other writings relevant to medical practice as well as research materials to help the young doctors in their education. Furthermore, the college has put much emphasis on good Information and Technology, ensuring that students have access to tec hnology and current tools, fundamental in the current medical school.
The Government Medical College, Palakkad has only one course which is the MBBS course and it is a full -time course that lasts six academic years. The college currently has an approved intake capacity of 100 students for this programme as part of the institutions efforts towards building a healthy pool of medical professionals in Kerala and the region at large. Admission to the MBBS programme is carried out through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Unified for Under Graduate, the NEET-UG, which provides a standard method of selecting students across the nation.
Here, Majority of the students get admitted in Government Medical College, Palakkad through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). Being a national level examination, this is the only entrance that students would offer to gain admission into the MBBS programme of the college. Only students who seek NEET-UG test results of the required cutoff scores will be allowed to apply for the institute. It adopts the centralised admission process that has been prescribed by the state government and the National Medical Commission.

You must try to obtain at least more than 500 marks in NEET MBBS result to land into some Government college. Further it depends on which category you belong to. If we talk about the cutoffs of previous years you can say that roughly its 125+ marks for unreserved
