Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College Kanpur was established in 1955. GSVM is named after Late Shri Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi who was a great freedom fighter. It is an affiliated college of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. GSVM Medical College offers a range of courses, including 29 programmes in total. 

These include an undergraduate programme in MBBS, 25 PG programmes, and 2 doctoral programmes. The PG courses are offered in disciplines such as Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Physiology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and others. GSVM Kanpur also provides a diploma programme in D.Pharma. Postgraduate students can choose from MD and MS programmes in various specialisations, as well as postgraduate diploma (PGD) courses in 8 specialisations. GSVM’s doctoral courses focus on DM Cardiology and M.Ch Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery. 

Admission to GSVM Medical College courses is entrance-based except for D.Pharma. Candidates are required to pass NEET UG, NEET PG and NEET-SS for the respective courses and apply for counselling afterwards. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria before applying for admission. GSVM facilities include hostels, a library, an auditorium, sports facilities, guestrooms, medical services and more.
