Majuli College, Jorhat Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college currently possesses a two-storey Girls’ Hostel which can accommodate a maximum of 36 girls. Girls desirous of hostel accommodation may apply for the same in their application forms for admission.  

The college is located in the neighbourhood of a Community Health Centre. In the event of any emergency, government doctors are consulted immediately. Yet, they have a First-Aid Box at the disposal of a competent teacher.

The college provides gym availability with good equipment.

The college library started in a small room of the college in the year 1962 and moved to its present premises in 1998. Since then, it has grown in size and content to take the present shape. With the developments in computers and communication technologies, the behavioral characteristics of the information seekers have been changing rapidly, and the library is trying its best to adapt with the technological advancements. The library of the college has an extensive and varied collection of books. This collection is augmented on a regular basis. To facilitate a congenial atmosphere for reading.

The library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources (print and electronic). The library is providing various services to its users. It has been catering to the needs of fifteen hundred undergraduate students, research scholars, Distance Education, and KKHOU students, Faculty, and college staff members. The library also has facilities for outsiders specially the neighboring locality of the college. To cater to the rising demands of information, the Library subscribes to journals, periodicals, magazines, and regional and national newspapers, covering the latest information resources. The collection of books, back volumes of periodicals, CD-ROMs, and a rich collection of CDs is also available in the library. The library has a special collection of books on Majuli. The Majuli College Library was renamed as “SHIKSHA RATNA ATUL CHANDRA GOSWAMI LIBRARY” in the year 2012. The founder principal of Majuli College.

The College has a spacious playground measuring an area of three acres of land on the bank of Doriadubi. Students can play outdoor games like football, volleyball, cricket, athletics, etc. During annual college week, outdoor games competitions are held on the playground. The college has a basketball court with a night playing facility. A well-equipped gymnasium of the college is also an asset in terms of sports facilities.  

The college has excellent IT infrastructure and accessibility from various parts.

The College has a well-maintained canteen named Byanjana.  

The college has a well-equipped auditorium known as Keshabram Borah Auditorium, having the capacity to accommodate an audience of almost 700. Various cultural functions, seminars, congregations, workshops, etc., are organized regularly in the auditorium.

The college has six laboratories in all. Out of these six, there are four laboratories in Science, one in Arts, and one common laboratory for both Arts and Science. They are Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Education, and Geography, respectively. These laboratories are running in newly constructed buildings in a neat and clean atmosphere. 

The college has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.

The college has separate cycle stands on the college campus: two for the students and the other for the teachers and employees. A strict vigil is maintained on these stands so that no incident of theft occurs.

The college has Placement facilities for all students.

The College has a boys’ hostel of Majuli College, which is located on the college campus. The hostel is named Babu Jagjivan Ram Hostel after the name of the former Defence Minister, Govt. of India. The hostel was inaugurated by the honourable Principal Dr. Debajit Saikia on 16^th Feb 2021. The hostel has a total of 9 (nine) rooms, which can accommodate 20 (twenty) students.

The college provides good classroom facilities.

The college has a transport facility for students and staff.

The college also provides workshop facilities for all the students.

The college also provides extracurricular activities like NSS and NCC.

The College has provided ICT-enabled features for all the students.
