Meerut College of Advance Technology, Meerut Admission Process

Meerut College of Advanced Technology (MCAT), is an affiliated college situated in Shatabdi Nagar, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The college has a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs to offer for varied interests. MCAT has been given recognition by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in order to maintain the quality of education in all of its programs. The admission policy that has been laid down by MCAT is designed to select the most deserving candidates for various programs. Admission to MCAT is made to depend on the procedural guidelines for admission sanctioned by the State Government/UT administration along with the affiliated University. 

For most of the programs considered for admission, the criteria for merit include the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and sometimes entrance tests. Merit-based admission for the B.Ed and M.Ed programs is based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination and the entrance examination. This college strictly abides by the admission policies set by the State Government and the affiliated university for these teacher training programs.

Application Process

The application process at Meerut College of Advanced Technology varies with the program; however, the following are the common steps:

1. The applicant should check the official website of Meerut College of Advanced Technology or the affiliated university for an announcement concerning applications.

2. Download and fill in the application form concerning the desired program. Fill in all details carefully.

3. Attach all requisite documents, which generally include:

  • Passport-size photographs
  • Qualifying examination mark sheets (10th, 12th, and graduation, if applicable)
  • Character certificate from the last attended institution
  • Transfer certificate
  • Migration certificate, if changing from that board/university
  • Caste certificate, if applicable
  • Any other documents, if specified by the college/university

4. The applicant should pay the application fee as prescribed by the college. The application fee amount, along with the method of payment, is mentioned in either the application form or on the college website.

5. The completed application along with the relevant documents and the application fee receipt must be submitted to the college admission office before the cut-off date.

6. For B.Ed. and M.Ed. programs, if the State Government or University mandates an entrance test, then candidates will be required to sit for the examination, the dates and venues of which will be notified separately.

7. A merit list is usually published on the college notice board and/or website. Thereafter, candidates are advised to check often.

8. The shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and admission processes. They too must appear in person with all original documents and with the required admission fees.

9. Once the candidates complete document verification and pay their fees, they have completed their admission at the college.

Degree wise Admission Process

BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application): The institution offers a BCA program of three years with 120 seats. Candidates are admitted on a merit basis, considering marks obtained in the qualifying examination (10+2). This program is open for candidates from different streams, but candidates with Mathematics or Computer Science background stand an advantage.

BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration): The college offers a BBA program for three years with 60 seats. The BBA admissions are handled based on merit based on marks obtained in the 10+2 examination. Candidates from all streams (Science, Commerce, or Arts) can apply for this program.

Home Science (B.Sc): MCAT offers 3 years of B.Sc in Home Science with 60 seats. It is open for candidates with merit in qualifying examination (10+2). Science background students are given preference, however students from other streams are also given consideration. 

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): The college offers a B.Ed course for 2 years with the total intake of 100 seats. Admission to B.Ed is primarily on a merit selection basis taking into consideration marks scored in the qualifying examination and entrance examination. The precise weightage to be given for each component may vary in accordance with the State Government and University norms.

M.Ed (Master of Education): MCAT offers M.Ed for two years. The intake is 25. The admission criteria for M.Ed are the same as for B.Ed, which is the merit list based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination (usually B.Ed), and then an entrance exam if applicable according to the rules of government and the affiliated university.
