Mirza Ghalib College has a total of 38 courses meant for different levels such as undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Following is admission procedure for different degrees:

BA (Bachelor of Arts): MGC has 13 specializations to offer in BA programs. BA admission is most of the times based on the candidate's performance in their 10+2 exams. Subjects under the college's honors programs include English, Hindi, Urdu, Philosophy, Economics, Political Science, History, Psychology, Geography, Sociology, Home Science, and Mathematics, including AI and AS.

B.Sc (Bachelor of Science): The college has 7 specializations in B.Sc programs. Admission in these programs is mostly based on the merit of the results of 10+2 examinations, emphasizing science subjects. Specializations include Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, and Biotechnology.

B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce): MGC offers both a general B.Com and B.Com (Hons) program. Admission is mostly merit-based, on 10+2 commerce or equivalent examinations.

BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications): The college has an applied BCA program. Admission has historically been based on merit and could also generally include the mathematics and computer science scores from 10+2.

BBM (Bachelor of Business Management): MGC provides a vocational BBM program. The admission process is mostly merit-based, taking into consideration a student's overall academic performance in 10+2.

MA (Master of Arts): The college provides 6 specializations for the MA programs, which include Political Science, English, Hindi, Urdu, History, and Psychology. Admission into the MA courses is mainly based on the performance of the candidate in his/her respective bachelor's degree.

M.Sc (Master of Science): MGC offers 5 specializations in M.Sc programs: those in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Mathematics. Usually, the admission takes place through merit against a candidate's bachelor's degree in respective science discipline.

M.Com (Master of Commerce): The college has an M.Com program for entry into the college. Admission mostly depends on the candidate's performance in their B.Com or equivalent degree.
