Eligibility Criteria
Relaxation for Women and Persons with Disabilities:
- Women candidates and those with more than 40% disability may get a 2-year relaxation in the Ph.D. maximum duration.
- Women candidates may also receive Maternity/Child Care Leave for up to 240 days during their Ph.D.
Leave for Student Exchanges:
Leave is allowed from the second year onwards if it contributes significantly to the thesis completion.
- Research expeditions (less than one month): Approved by the supervisor and head of the department.
- Research missions (more than one month): Proposed by the department and approved by the Research Advisory Committee for work in National/International research labs or Centres of Excellence.
- Exchange programmes: Proposed by the department and approved by the Research Advisory Committee for work in institutions in India or abroad.
Admission Details
Selection for admission to the Ph.D. programme will involve a written test called the Ramaiah Research Programme Entrance Test (RRPET), followed by an interview focused on the research topic and evaluation of basic knowledge. The merit list of eligible candidates will be prepared based on the combined scores from:
- The written test (RRPET). The interview. The candidate's previous academic performance.
The relative weights of these components will determine the final selection for admission into the Ph.D. programme.
