Polytechnic for Women, New Delhi, it is in New Delhi that one finds a polytechnic for women. This technical institution aims at the all-rounded development of women through technical education. The polytechnic imparts a myriad of skills and knowledge through the imparting of various courses of 4 programs encompassing a total of 19 subjects. Admission is basically by competition and on the basis of merit only.

The process for admission generally begins just before the commencement of academic activity, that is, around August-September. Activities in this cycle include application submission, entrance examination, if any, preparation of merit list, and finally, counseling.

Eligibility varies from program to program:

One of the basic requirements for admission to most programs would be that the candidate has passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent from a recognized board of education with relevant subjects.

Generally, for diploma programs, a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination is required.

Some programs may have further specific eligibility criteria regarding combinations of subjects or minimum marks in specific subjects.

Application Process

  1. Notification: Keep checking on the opening of application forms as announced officially.

  2. Online Application: An application is filled in for the personal data and calculations.

  3. Documentation: The following documents will be uploaded:

    • Passport-size photo

    • 10th and 12th Mark sheets

    • Proof of DOB

    • Issued by-the-date category certificate (if required)

    • Other course-specific documents

  4. Payment of Application Fee: For the application form, the prescribed fee is required to be paid.

  5. Entrance Exam (may apply): The appearance in an entrance exam is scheduled.

  6. Merit List: Merit list is issued by the institute after processing applications and declaration of results.

  7. Counseling and Seat Allotment: Allotment of seats on merit basis and preference to the shortlisted candidates, after counseling.

  8. Document Verification: Verification shall be carried out in respect of all original certificates.

  9. Fee Payment: The fee due to securing admission is to be submitted.

  10. Orientation: The orientation to familiarize oneself with the institute and the mandatory course structure.

Degree-wise Admission Process

  • Diploma: Based on merit at 10+2. Informatics Technology, Computer Applications, Journalism and Mass Communication, Fashion Design, and Interior Design and Display for three years.

  • Bachelor's (B.Tech): For the Bachelor's Programs, excellent academic performance in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 is required. Admission will be based on scores from national level entrance examination.

  • Master's (M.Tech.): A candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with good academic record. Selection may be on the basis of an Institute-level entrance test and/or scores from a national-level examination.
