Solid legal training, great friends and ready for court.

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

I found the location in the center of Kolkata extremely convenient for me. The campus is not a huge, sprawling one, consisting primarily of functional buildings. I remember the library being sufficiently stocked for my core legal research needs. The college provided me excellent moot court infrastructure for practical training. However, I definitely missed having a large sports ground for physical activity. The lack of a proper student canteen facility was a regular inconvenience for me.

    Academics

I found the majority of my professors were truly dedicated and approachable individuals. The depth of knowledge imparted in foundational law subjects was very strong. The structured curriculum, being under the University of Calcutta, greatly benefited me. I especially appreciated the regular mooting practice sessions for skill development. I feel prepared for general legal practice because of the teaching quality. The faculty supported me through my five years of intensive study.

    Placements

I believe the college prepares one primarily for independent litigation practice in the courts. I did not see extensive recruitment from large corporate law firms during my placement window. A significant portion of my graduating class chose to join chambers immediately after finishing. I was satisfied with the initial opportunities presented to me. Securing external internships during the early semesters was largely my own responsibility. The college definitely provided me a professional entry point.

    Value for Money

Considering the reasonable financial commitment for a five-year degree, I believe the value was excellent for me. I received my accredited Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Laws degree at an accessible price point. The investment definitely paid off by providing me a platform for my career launch. I found the fee structure transparent and manageable throughout the course duration. This college represents a great opportunity for aspiring lawyers with limited resources.

    Campus Life

The small size of the college fostered a genuine sense of closeness among all students. I made several lifelong friendships with my peers and seniors over the five years. We organized many memorable cultural and academic events together informally. I always felt a strong sense of community and support surrounding me. The convenient urban setting meant I always had access to everything I needed nearby. I will always cherish the vibrant social atmosphere there.

    Somewhat okay

    College Infrastructure

My college does not have a canteen. There are no hostles or sport centres. They do not provide us wifi or smart boards. The rooms are really clumsy and too hot. They can at least arrange some more fans.

    Academics

The curriculum is somewhat okay. They organise seminars for making us job ready. Some professors really give efforts to teach us. But some are not that great. They should take more job oriented classes.

    Placements

I still do not have a idea regarding this. When I joined the college they have advertised it to be the only law college under CU which provides campusing. Many of the ex students have been placed, as far as I know.

    Value for Money

It's Rs.40,000(approx) per year. (Each sem- Rs.20,000). Sometimes I feel it's not worth the fees because most of the time, the college remain closed.

    Campus Life

The college building is not that big. We have been allotted a reading room for other activities including studies. Students can take part in other college's fest. Our college organizes three programmes every year. Students can take part in debates, dance, singing, painting, drama, etc etc. The teachers are frank. Seniors are supportive. It's located near the shyambazar five point crossing. It's near the shyambazar metro station also bus stoppages. The communication system is good.

    Others

The college campus is not very big or stylish. Few professors are really helpful. The students are friendly too.
