Established in the year 1997, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) is a constituent institute of Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok. SMIT Sikkim offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes which are approved by AICTE and UGC. SMIT Sikkim is NAAC A+ approved institution. Candidates need to appear for relevant entrance examination according to the choice of course. The ambience at SMIT campus is made lively by numerous events conducted by the extracurricular clubs and committees of the college. SMIT Sikkim also offers global exposure to its students. The institute has collaboration with Baekseok University (BU), Republic of Korea, Jan Wyżykowski University, Poland and many more.  According to the latest placement report, 4.5 lakhs per annum salary has been offered to the SMIT Sikkim graduates.

SMIT Sikkim Courses

Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology offers a total number of 8 undergraduate and postgraduate courses with various specializations. The college offers UG and PG courses in information technology, engineering, management branches such as BTech, BBA, BCA and B.Sc. at UG level and MTech, MBA, MCA and M.Sc at PG level. The duration of SMIT Sikkim course depends on the level of degree and choice of the course. The SMIT Sikkim fees ranges from Rs. 60,000 to Rs.3,20,000 according to the choice of course and specialization.

SMIT Sikkim Admissions

Candidates can apply for SMIT Sikkim admission to UG (BTech, BCA) and PG (MTech, MBA) degrees. Candidates applying for admission in Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology first are required to meet the prescribed eligibility criteria of the desired course and then register for admission by visiting the SMIT Sikkim admission portal. In order to take admission in BTech and MTech programmes candidates need to appear for SMIT Online Test/JEE Main and GATE/SMIT entrance exam respectively. SMIT Sikkim also offers admission through lateral entry in BTech and MCA courses. As per Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology admission process, candidates are required to participate in the institute level counselling, if required. SMIT Sikkim Scholarships

Most of the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology scholarships are offered to the BTech and MTech students only. The institute has dedicated scholarships for the students taking admission in BTech programme through lateral entry. In order to avail the SMIT Sikkim scholarships there is a certain set of eligibility criteria which need to be fulfilled by the candidates. The eligibility criteria of the scholarships are set by the institute only. According to the Sikkim Institute of Technology scholarship policy, students eligible for the BTech scholarships are given concession in the tution fees. The degree of concession in the BTech tuition fees depends upon the marks obtained by them in the 10+2 examination. 

There is a solo scholarship i.e. Institute Means Scholarship for students who need financial help and belong to the poor section of the society. SMIT Sikkim scholarships for BTech lateral entry students can be availed on the basis of score obtained by them in the engineering diploma or BSc degree. One student can only get one scholarship at a time.

SMIT Sikkim aims to provide placement to all the students and for this the institute has a dedicated training & placement department. The T&P department is responsible for conducting SMIT Sikkim placement drive and training students for the interviews. A special programme known as capability enhancement programme is run by training and placement department. Under this programme students work on their soft skills, communication skills etc. Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology placements report, 360 students got placed in top companies like Providence, Nomura, Dell, Microsoft, Dxc, Smith, Capgemini, Accenture, Wipro, Ncompass, Paragyte, Brillio and others. The average median package offered is of Rs. 4.5 lakhs per annum.
