SMIT Sikkim Facilities

Facilities and infrastructure play a key role in the student's life. Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology campus facilities are a library, canteen, wifi, auditorium, hostel and more. SMIT Sikkim hostel facilities include a separate hostels for both boys and girls. The hostel rooms are spacious and have all the required facilities. Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology library facilities include a large collection of books, journals, magazines, newspapers and many more.

SMIT sports facilities help students relieve academic stress and allow them to refresh their minds. The institute has a large playground to play outdoor games such as cricket, basketball, volleyball and many more. Each department of SMIT Sikkim has its own laboratory. Other SMIT Sikkim facilities are transportation, a health centre, a gym, a swimming pool and many more. Apart from this, SMIT facilities are also offered for people with disabilities, such as ramps with railings, lift facilities, and toilets for divyangjan.

Girls Hostel
The hostels provide excellent accommodation to nearly 3000 students. All rooms have attached bathrooms. To cater to the student’s nutrition needs, the institute provides canteens and food courts apart from a professionally run mess.
Boys Hostel

Medical/Hospital
The health centre in the campus is open 24*7. There are 5 beds, 2 resident doctors, 2 nurses, and one medical attendance available at the health centre. For emergencies, the college also has two ambulances.
Gym
The institute has a well furnished indoor gym with all the latest equipment.
Library
Covering an area of 350 square feet, SMIT Sikkim library is a two storey building and the only library in Majitar, Rangpo region. The library has a rich collection of books, journals and research papers. Students can also get online journals at the library.
Sports
State of the art sports complex named MARENA with indoor swimming pool, basketball court, squash court and a health gym. The campus also has a lush green football ground.

Auditorium
There is a 24x7 Health center in the campus having 05 Beds, 02 Resident Doctors, 03 Nurses & a medical attendant. The medical team takes care of routine medical cases and emergency treatment. All cases requiring specialist opinion are referred to Central Referral Hospital, Gangtok. Two Ambulances are available at the campus for shifting of medical cases to CRH.
Transport Facility
The college also offers transportation facilities to its students and faculty members.
Alumni Associations
The SMIT Alumni Engagement Cell endeavours to create a close-knit network that allows its students to develop a lifelong bond with their alma mater. With an overall mission to connect, inform, and engage the alumni with the students and the Institute, the cell strives to generate multi-faceted support for SMIT.
It has been instrumental in organizing various events ranging from SMIT Alumni Meet, Workshops, Mentorship programs, Webinars and guest lectures by distinguished alumni on and off campus, along with the publishing of the alumni newsletter.
The Alumni Cell today has a global network of more than 5000 graduates from our alma mater and is growing at a fast pace each year. It is one of the most active alumni associations which operates through a network of national and international chapters. Some of the critical initiatives of Alumni Engagement Cell includes:
- To promote and foster mutually beneficial interaction between the Alumni and the present students of SMIT, and between the Alumni themselves.
- To encourage the Alumni to take an active and abiding interest in the work and progress of the Institute, helping them to contribute towards the enhancement of the social utility of their Alma Mater.
- Numerous Workshops, Mentorship programs, Events to allow maximum interaction between the alumni and its alma mater.
- Serves as a medium to strengthen connections between the students and the alumni in order to enhance both their personal and professional growth

The swimming pool at the college is modern and equipped with temperature controlling technology.

Every department of the college has its own laboratory. SMIT Sikkim laboratories facilities help students in understanding the concepts in a better way.

Union Bank of India, ATM of Axis Bank & Union Bank of India are present in the SKIM campus.
Convenience Store
For the convenience of students the institute has a post office, stationery shop, xerox shop, beauty parlor, barber shop, pharmacy etc.

College Infrastructure

The experience of hostel life was amazing and it will still be fondly remembered as a part of our journey. Not only the rooms were decent, but even the food served in the mess was quite nice (there were some days, of course). Wi-Fi was on offer, but sometimes the speed was not that good, and there were some power cuts as well.

College Infrastructure

The hostel facilities are adequate, and the rooms are neatly kept and cozy. Basic facilities such as canteens, cafeterias, banking facilities, and a guest house are available within the campus. Wi-Fi and library facilities are good, and the campus provides a serene environment which is excellent for academics.

College Infrastructure

The infrastructure at Manipal was generally quite good. There were dedicated computer labs for BCA students with good machines and stable internet. The library contained a reasonable collection of books and journals during academic work, especially project time and exam period. Hostels were neat and tidy.

What about environment (season) in sikkim where SMIT is established..?

Hello,

The institute is situated in the river of the beautiful banks of Teesta. It is far from the city crowd. It has a most pleasant and peaceful environment for education. The placements are very good. Also the climate are pleasant. Mostly the winter attitude is present there all over the year. But rain has also come. Overall it is very much body soothing.
