Sinhgad Dental College and Hospital was established in 2006. One of the premier institutions in the region, a light that illuminates dental education, is located in Pune, Maharashtra. It spans an area of 11.5 acres and is co-educational. The institute is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and approved by DCI. SDCH has a rating of 'A' grade, which indeed speaks volumes about the concern of this institution towards quality education-Naacs assessment. The institution has 560 students and 187 faculty members offering 10 courses at 2 degree levels. This diversified student body, with a female-to-male ratio of 78:22, points to the acceptance of a large number of students for dental education.

The institute offers the following courses in dentistry, namely: undergraduate BDS and nine specialisations at postgraduate level MDS. All the programmes offered are regular full-time ones. The BDS programme is of 5 years duration; the MDS programme is of 3 years duration. The sanctioned intake of students for all programmes put together is 124 seats, consisting of 100 in BDS and 24 in various MDS specialisations.

Admissions to SDCH are strict and transparent based on state and national guidelines. Admission to the first-year BDS course will be based on the National Eligibility and Entrance Test conducted by the National Testing Agency - NEET-UG. Admissions are centrally carried out by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Maharashtra. 15% of the total seats in concerned courses are reserved for NRI quota admission, whereas 85% are filled purely based on the discretion of the DMER rounds, keeping into consideration constitutional reservation policies. For postgraduate courses, the admission is done as per NEET-MDS as per Dentistry Council of India. The institute-level vacant seat round is conducted by the college itself to fill up the vacant seats created by students after the centralised admission process.
