Sri Sarada College of Education, Salem Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college has had a library from its inception. The Library provides books for B.Ed., M.Ed, Programme, and research courses like M.Phil and Ph.D. It provides a suitable learning environment for readers with internet facilities. The library has a rich collection of books, reference books, encyclopedias, journals, e-resources, CDs, DVDs, and newspapers. The library is equipped with 27151 volumes and 16231 titles and also it has an adequate number of theses, project reports, and back volumes for research scholars. The college has a departmental library also for optional students for their reference work. It has special services like a book bank system for SC/ST Students and lending books for faculty and scholars of other educational institutions and it has a special library for the benefit of visually impaired students who join B.Ed and M.Ed. courses. The library has been automated and the barcoding system is adapted.

The College institution shares a playground of 2318 sq. ft. for outdoor games and physical exercises. It is surrounded by shady trees and proper fencing.

The College has a computer laboratory with has LAN connection facility so that both student teachers and teacher educators can easily access the internet for various purposes like collecting teaching-learning materials and sharing information. The lab is equipped with 25 computers with LAN connections. The local version of MOODLE is enabled in the computer lab. M. Ed, M. Phil, and Ph. D. students utilize the lab for browsing various sources for research purposes, data entry, and analysis and they have done their practical test using EXCEL and SPSS. Teacher educators are also making use of ICT facilities for curriculum transactions and for research purposes. In addition, all the Students are encouraged and permitted to use the computer lab for their project work and to explore knowledge beyond the curriculum.

The College has a canteen situated on the college premises with the basic requirement for refreshing. Healthy and hygienic snacks prepared at Sarada Bakery satiate the appetite of our students. Lunch packets are also available in the afternoon.

The College has a Sister Nivethitha auditorium that is spacious for the common assembly of students of Sri Sarada Institutions. Accommodating around 3000 persons, it was a dream project of our Founder Secretary Yatiswari Saradapriya Amba. College day celebration, Lalitha Sahasranama Namavali, Lighting Ceremony, and Ph.D. public Viva-voices, are some of the events to be conducted in the Auditorium.

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students with a well-equipped Educational Technology Laboratory, Psychology Laboratory, Language Laboratory, and Science and Mathematics laboratories.

The college has a Gym facility for the students.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

The college has a Hostel that houses students from faraway places. Supervised by able superintendents under the direct control of the college Secretary, our hostel ensures the safety and security of the inmates. Power and Water supply are ensured round the clock. Surrounded by shady trees and herbal gardens, palatable and healthy food prepared hygienically, spacious dining halls, organized serving patterns, regular prayer, spiritual assembly, and timely schedule are a few to make our hostel a distinct one. Visitors are allowed weekly once. Parents or local guardians must pick up and let the students back at the hostel. An experienced physician is available in the hospital to accompany the campus for the necessary treatment of needy day scholars and hostel residents.

The college has good networking for the alumni association.
