SJIHMCT Palai

The St Joseph's Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Palai was established in 2010. It offers a Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) programme designed to meet the needs of the hotel and catering industry. Affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the SJIHMCT Palai offers a four-year degree programme spanning eight semesters. The programme provides education to students for managing the hospitality industry, including hotels. In the final semester, students can choose elective specialisations like Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office Management, or Housekeeping Management as part of the programme. The SJIHMCT eligibility criteria include a pass in the higher secondary or equivalent examinations with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks, the college offers concessions to reserved categories. 

SJIHMCT Admissions are conducted around the months of August and September and are based on the eligibility criteria. The college provides all essential facilities for training and recreational activities. It has training kitchens, cafes and restaurants for students to practice their skills as well as for sports activities. The college offers medical amenities such as insurance coverage, a first aid room, and access to doctors. Students can also easily access counselling services and faculty mentorship.

SJIHMCT Location

The St Joseph's Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is situated in the city of Palai, Kerala. It is at a distance of 33 Km from the Kottayam Railway Station. The college is located in the hills, so there are no train tracks to Palai town, and the only means of public transportation is the bus. Luckily the Sopanam bus stop is only 1.4 Km from the college. The nearest airport is the Cochin Airport which is 72 Km away from the college.
