About St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, Mattannur

St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, Mattannur, Kannur was established in 2014 in Kerala. The institute is located over 15 acres of land and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The college is having total student enrolment of 510 and faculty members 43 having five B.Tech programmes under one degree. Some of the engineering fields offered by the institute are Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. St. The Thomas College of Engineering & Technology has a vision to deliver quality technical education and to produce the professionals of great calibre to meet the increasing industrial demands.

St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology has numerous organisational facilities that may be useful for students’ learning and self-fulfillment in the college. The department of library and Information centre is one of the best in engineering college in Malabar with approximately 5000 books available and e-journals through DELNET. Among these facilities, the campus has organised departments for each department with necessary laboratory such as Basic Electronics Lab Electronic Circuits Lab Digital Electronics Lab Fluid Mechanics Lab etc. To provide comfortable stay, the college has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls for students’ convenience to live. The institute also places special emphasis on physical fitness and has available well-facilitated sports and games facilities, both open-air and indoor games, and an event known as the Games and Athletics Meet, Ignite, is organised every year.

The college is offering a total of 5 B.Tech programmes out of which all are regular full-time programmes. The total approved intake for these courses is 270 intakes for the three courses.

The college follows an admission procedure to select the students on a fair and merit basis in its St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology. That means that the institute has a three tier admission system. The Government quota is 50% of the total number of seats, in which the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations conducts centralised admission. Management category account for a third of the seats which are filled according to the candidate’s rank in the qualifying examination and engineering entrance examination. The rest one-fifth or 15 % of the total seats are available for the NRI candidates. The only test that the college accepts for admission into its first year is the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination commonly referred to as KEAM.
