"Surendranath College in Kolkata was established in the year 1884 and is one of the most prestigious West Bengal institutions of higher education. The affiliated college was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It offers varied undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Its campus stretches on compact 0.785 acres, and the student strength is 4,908 with a strength of 78 faculty members. The institution offers a wide educational curriculum through its 27 courses against 7 degree programs. Surendranath College provides an all-rounded educational experience, though it has further excelled in courses in arts, commerce, and sciences.".

The college has equipped itself with all modern facilities to further its academic pursuits. The library is one of the oldest and finest institutions in this college, spread over an area of 3,283 square feet. Surendranath College admits students on the basis of merit with slight differences in the procedure for each course. In undergraduate courses, admission is usually made based on the candidate's performance at the 10+2 level examinations. This college accepts applications from students who have completed their higher secondary education from recognized boards. To be admitted to postgraduate courses, such as M.Sc in Computer Science, one needs to clear an entrance test administered by the University of Calcutta. This is for both Calcutta University and non-Calcutta University students.

However it must be stated that Surendranath College does have faith in giving monetary assistance to its learners. For the Academic Year 2023 it provided 1859 bursaries and scholars to 1359 under graduate students and 18 post graduate students. They pledged for the financial aids which strengthens the reality that it aimed in providing quality education to all types of students.
