This is a military school. The SST (Symbiosis NOIDA Standard Time) is 5 minutes 50 seconds ahead of the IST. And you have to very badly adhere to the timing rules. Even if you are late by 0.01 second, you won't be allowed to attend the lecture which means that you lose the attendance for that lecture. Rules related to uniform are also very strict. You can't even fold your sleeves in hot summers. 75% attendance rule is a must and one more important point is that medical grounds are not at all considered for exemptions. So, you are dying in a hospital, the college doesn't care. If by any chance you are saved and you find that the semester attendance is below 75%, then congratulations TNG (Term not Granted) will be given for sure. The schedule is really very badly hectic and most of the teachers are not so friendly regarding the schedule shift. You will run throughout the semester like headless chicken and then at the last you will realize that half of the year is gone and the only thing you learnt is to handle pressure. You won't be getting time to talk to parents even. You will having tutorial and just after tutorial projects submissions along with 2-3 vivas on the same dates and no teacher will listening to your excuse of submission and etc. Just after projects you again have tutorial two. Mooting culture and research culture is really good and the cells are highly active. However other cells like sports, debate, cultural, CSR are not so looked up and supported by the college as it should have been by a brand called Symbiosis. Resources are weak. Good thing is that you learn good professionalism. You learn to handle pressure. Some faculties are really very good. They are required to be honored. They equip you with skills and knowledge, not marks, which is a remarkable thing in today's world. The overall atmosphere supports learning and acquiring skills rather than marks. You understand the difference between democracy and dictatorship. The faculties are sporty and the fest is good but the schedule is again hectic.

The course is built on the semester system with each year containing two semesters. The schedule can be quite tiresome as even a slight delay of five mins in the morning’s amounts to you not being allowed to enter the classroom and the importance given to attendance does not help. There is a strict adherence to 75% attendance policy. Even a slight difference of 0.2% amounts to a TNG (Term Not Granted) which implies that you are ineligible to give the final external exams. There are 3 Internal Assessments amounting to 40% of your total marks throughout the semester; which include two tutorials and a research paper. The 60% comes from an exam at the end of the Semester The College boasts of a portal which provides notes by the faculty as well as an active place where discussions relating to every aspect of law and the various supplementing subjects are discussed and debated by faculty and students alike. There is an active mooting culture with selections in two stages biannually. The NASCENT Moot Court Competition is held every year for 1st year students and a team of 18 students is selected. The ASCENT Moot Court Competition is held every year wherein students from 2nd -5th year can apply, this also includes the existing mooting contingent. This ensures a fair competition and keeps the mooting contingent in top shape. The campus is in a prime business district. There are malls and a lot of restaurants nearby. It is close to all the basic amenities and is fairy accessible by metro. There are also a lot of PGs available for students. All the students are made to do two-month compulsory internship every year. The college provides good internship placements and maintains strict professionalism when it comes to handing internships. The administration is efficient and strictly follows the rules and procedures set by the university. It is tedious at times to provide an application for the smallest of jobs. However, it helps instil a professional behaviour from the very start. There is a very strict policy of wearing the college uniform. It almost feels like I am still in school and will get reprimanded for wearing the wrong shoes or the lack of the tie. You are required to wear the uniform all days of the week, except Wednesdays and Saturdays. The lack of even one of the elements of the uniforms results in being asked to leave the class.

Life at Symbiosis, it's overall a very good experience. Infrastructure is not so good but the faculties and resources provided by the institute are unbeatable. One will get immense exposure to the legal industry. Everyone can contact directly to every faculty and lots more. And above all, Symfiesta, Annual Youth Fest of Symbiosis, NOIDA. the best 72 hours of the year.

Batch of 2016 | BA LLB
Course Structure – The course is built on the semester system with each year containing two semesters. The course plan is deliberated upon by subject specialists before the beginning of every semester in the form of a Teaching Plan put forth in the college portal-Curiosity. Choice of Electives is given from the Second year itself. Class Hours – Classes begin at 9:15 in the morning and go on till 1:40 in the afternoon, 12 P.M on Saturdays with two breaks-10 mins and 30 mins. There are specific days when the classes stretch to 3:15 to accommodate the compulsory extra subject options provided from the second semester. This can be quite tiresome as even a slight delay of five mins in the morning’s amounts to you not being allowed to enter the classroom and the importance given to attendance does not help. Evaluation Methodology – There are 3 Internal Assessments amounting to 40% of your total marks throughout the semester; which include two tutorials and a research paper. The 60% comes from an exam at the end of the Semester Attendance – There is a strict adherence to 75% attendance policy. Even a slight difference of 0.2% amounts to a TNG (Term Not Granted) which implies that you are ineligible to give the final external exams. Student Culture and Activities Curiosity – The College boasts of a portal which is dedicated to providing notes by the faculty as well as an active place where discussions relating to every aspect of law and the various supplementing subjects are discussed and debated by faculty and students alike. The students are persuaded to have their own opinions and the faculty is open to new ideas. Moots – There is an active moot culture with selections in two stages biannually. The NASCENT Moot Court Competition is held every year for 2nd-year students and a team of 18 students is selected. The NASCENT Moot Court Competition is held every year wherein students from 2nd - the 5th year can apply, this also includes the existing mooting contingent. This ensures a fair competition and keeps the mooting contingent in top shape. Other co-curricular, extra-curricular activities – There is always some activity that happens over the course of the year and the college ensures that there are auditions for every competition, which ensures a fair chance to all. There is also an annual college fest-Symfiesta ,which is a 3-day event full of fun and frolic. Societies/ Committees – There are so many that I can’t even name all of them. Most of them are fairly active and take up good initiatives. Location The campus is located in a prime business district. There are malls and a lot of restaurants nearby. It is close to all the basic amenities and is fairly accessible by metro. There are also a lot of PGs available for students. Placements at Symbiosis Law School The college is in its first year of graduation and hence has average placement. However, all the students are made to do two-month compulsory internship every year. The college provides good internship placements and maintains strict professionalism when it comes to handing internships. Administration and Fees Administration – The administration is efficient and strictly follows the rules and procedures set by the university. It is tedious at times to provide an application for the smallest of jobs. However, it helps instil a professional behaviour from the very start. Fees – Refer to website. It is around 1.75 Lakhs per year. Dress code – There is a very strict policy of wearing the college uniform. It almost feels like I am still in school and will get reprimanded for wearing the wrong shoes or the lack of the tie. You will not find any student wearing Jeans or T-Shirts. You are required to wear the uniform all days of the week, except Wednesdays and Saturdays. The lack of even one of the elements of the uniforms results in being asked to leave the class. Good things The college encourages you to participate in moots and other academic as well as co-curricular and sports by providing you monetary reimbursements as well as exemptions from lectures. However, it goes without saying that a strict check is kept on you when you are provided with exemptions for a judicious utilization of the time. Bad things The tedious procedures that need to be followed to get any job done. The emphasis is given to 75% attendance mark. Other things about Symbiosis Law School All in all, I like the professionalism that the college so aptly shapes us for and recommend this college to prospective law students. Tell us about the infrastructure of your college The infrastructure is very compact and lacks huge open space Classrooms – The Academic Block is spread over three floors in a four storied building. The classrooms are spacious and are provided with uninterrupted electricity, a state of the art projectors and speakers and air conditioners. Additionally, the whole campus has pretty fast Wi-Fi, though you can’t access your social Networking sites. However, the phone signals are very low and often make you feel frustrated when you have an important call to make. Canteens – The canteen is relatively small and is shared with the SCMS Campus. The food quality is average. Hostels – There is a girl’s hostel on campus with extremely strict rules and a curfew akin to that of a 14-year-old. There are restrictions on the clothes to be worn outside the room and a very strict policy against use of basic electronic gadgets, which are somewhat baseless. The rooms which are given on a triple sharing basis have the bare essentials and have coolers installed in them. There is no Boys hostel on campus. Library – The library is relatively small and has problems issuing books on various subjects. There are tedious rules and inconvenient procedures which I find a bit baseless. However, it is a perfect place to sit and study for hours on end.
