What if I told you that I don't like my college?

Well, that situation wouldn't arise, thanks to my second home's state-of-the-art campus that consist of well-equipped IT labs, classrooms, and immense aesthetic value in the form of our beautifully kept lawns and the well-maintained sports facilities. Be it about the basketball matches, or my college's events - SSMC-B gathered quite a few eyeballs in the past year, and is on its way to greater hypes! My hostel life is a lovely potpourri of well-kept rooms, facilities and 'midnight chomping after brainstorming' sessions. Hostel food is ... well, no hostel's culinary catalogue ever hit the bull's eye, so keeping that in mind, it ain't that bad. My well-qualified professors, ensure that we, a batch of Pan-India media enthusiasts, exercise our gray matter to no limit, and this reflects during the final placements, wherein the companies' status changes from 'potential' to 'constant' on a regular basis. I get to witness prominent personalities coming in as guest lecturers, and the knowledge imparted by them is priceless. There are several media mills that mint money and my college is often counted in the same category. Well, everything has its pros and cons - we humans do, and it's not like Institutes are run by aliens, right? From crazy stress-busting jam sessions to organizing events with biggies like Barkha Dutt and Anupam Kher as keynote speakers ( Event name : CQ'16), I've seen it (almost all) - almost, because there's, beyond any doubt, much more to come! This college has done what no one could do for me in the last 21 years - it made a socially awkward person come out of her 'reserved zone', her shell. I can now confidently say that I'm more corporate-ready/job-ready than ever! Isn't that the main aim? The absolution? The feeling that you can conquer the world; the confidence flowing out like a never-ending fountain? That is what my college has given me, and I would never want to exchange it for a "better projected" institute. So yes, maybe in an alternate world, I really don't like my college!

I am a foodie and I have a voracious appetite for the spice in the field of Advertising. Symbiosis School of Media and Communication, Bangalore is an amazing platform which serves gourmet with unbelievable toppings and awesome flavors. Our world is salted with sincere, serious hard work and peppered with partying. Party hard but work harder is the mantra of this place that churns out delectable, comprehensive, complete products that are cooked to perfection! All the ingredients used in this process are authentic, corporate friendly and add value to living. Here is a recipe for a dish called Aù Greatest Symbiosis. Ingredients: Generous amount of Creativity Double the amount of Passion Hands-on experience Method of Preparation In a cauldron of the induction program, the Ingredients are marinated with expert thoughts of the highest order in different fields. Then the ingredients were pressure cooked with academics & extramural activities & spices like quizzes and fests. Then this was kneaded with hands-on learning experiences & is garnished with communication skills, professionalism, and corporate ethics. The plating of the dish adds to the visual appeal and makes the food more appetizing. The plating is done with a brilliant Amphi Theatre, an amazing cafeteria, auditorium, well-designed classrooms, Sports, fitness and health facilities. The food is cooked by master chefs called the director and teaching faculty. The fuel used to cook is a renewable fuel called inspiration. The dish is served hot and sells like hot cakes!

The Clandestine Surprise

When someone writes a review, the confusion of being practical or just brutally honest weighs heavy on the writer. In such a scenario, I prefer the brutally honest path. Let's start with the basic expectation of any post graduate student - an awesome campus life as it probably will be last experience of the student life. Campus life at SSMC B? the campus is small but cozy. Which college introduces pet therapy on campus for the students?! I am simply amazed and surprised with what my college can ideate and implement. It's located in Bangalore which itself turns into a plus point as the exposure to the IT hub of the nation is immense. You are in the crowd, living the experience of cafe culture, karaoke nights, gardens and their mysteries. Coming to the amenities, the college does provide a good hostel, 24-hour medical assistance, a gym, on campus library and IT Lab, a state of the art classrooms with inbuilt projectors and 24 hours of Wi-Fi. These may be the simple, available at all colleges amenities but apart from these, SSMC-B provides an amphitheater, a music room with awesome jamming sessions and our very own punching bag that can be punched by one and all, anytime. In order to enhance our corporate exposure, our college has a feature - 'Press Clippings' - which are sent out daily on our college mail ids. These press clippings are related to our field of study and carry newspaper clippings in a digital format of the latest on-goings in our industry (media, advertising, PR). These clippings are useful in being up to date with all sorts of current affairs despite being on campus and being involved in various assignments. Our 'Live Projects', where we get to work on projects that are taking place outside the college such as 'Bangalore Literature Festival', 'Pinkathon', 'Nasscom', 'Social Good', 'GCA' and many more, help us to function in the external environment for which we are actually studying back at college. We are exposed t the stark difference between the classroom and the environment beyond it. When it comes to placements, every college has to perform at par as that is the first and foremost expectation of a student - 'a good placement'. SSMC-B has a CRC team (Corporate Relations Cell). The team comprises of students and the management. The cell performs the entire function of placements which also includes pitching for internships and live projects. What's different is that even the students are involved in the process as the cell has student members who go ahead and represent the institution to the corporate and the industry. When it comes to accommodation, the hostels are pretty decent. They have the normal facilities but if they would have a small kitchenette attached to every room - pretty decent would become heaven! But so far, so good. The faculty is a tough one. You usually expect tons of experience and knowledge but forget the fact that they are humans too. The faculty at SSMC-B is decent and well read. they can give guidance in terms of understanding and comprehension of the subject. As most of them come with industry experience, it helps to know their stories and experiences. I just wish we had more time to indulge in conversations beyond the classroom as they prove to be quite effective and innovative. Lastly, student diversity is something that I have experienced throughout my education and an MBA college will have diversity with respect to cultures and family backgrounds. The diversity at SSMC-B helped me to explore the cultures of the south of India which so far had not been covered. The student diversity is actually making the college a fun place to be at as there are so many different ideologies simply floating around the campus.
