What should I choose for BA LLB? NLU Shimla or Jamia Millia?

Mahima Student Expert 28th Jul, 2019
Hey.
Jamia Milia is an established institute. It is based in Delhi and hence it has a great locational advantage in terms of internships and placements with District courts, high court, supreme court, and many good law firms and lawyers in the same city. Colleges like Jamia Milia etc are doing better than these lower Tier NLUs and you cant expect the same for NLU Shimla. So I would suggest you to not just dig the NLU tag but rather go for Jamia because as of now it is doing much better than lower NLUs. As of the the faculty, other placement/ internship opportunities and other opportunities will be better than NLU Shimla.
Best of luck

Which one is a better option for law: NLU SHIMLA or VIPS DELHI?

Asuri Sai Preethi Student Expert 25th Jul, 2019

Hi Candidate,

I suggest you to choose VIPS Delhi over NLU Shimla. It has an impressive rating of 4.2/5. There is free Wi-fi for the students to surf the internet . All the classrooms are well maintained with good infrastructure and air conditioned. There are well maintained sustematic libraries.

Placements:The students get placed in some of the top firms or under some experienced advocates or clear the judicial services exams. Some of the top firms like Larsen and toubro, vanish associates, luthra and luthra, Chitley and Chitley. Some advocates also come to recruit like Mr Ram jethmalani, Mr Goal subramanium, Mr A. S. Chandok.

All the best

My AIR is 6573 I have applied for vacant seats in nlu shimla is there any chance I might get it or in any other nlu in vacant seats general

Mahima Student Expert 8th Jul, 2019
Hello
The cut off for admission in any of the National Law Universities through CLAT in the previous year was a rank in the range of 1600 for the general category. Considering that your rank is 6573, your chances are less.

Usually there are vacancies in the lower NLUs as people leave their seats for other colleges. You might have less chances even then. Usually a rank under 3000 is safe for admission under Vacanies.

Though chances are less i would still suggest you to apply for it as firstly there is no harm in trying and also because this year there have been quite a large number of vacancies among different NLUs.
Along with HPNLU other NLus like NLu raipur etc also have vacancies you can check their official websites too.
But along with it i would also suggest you to not only rely on this and also find another back up option in case you don't get selected because  your chances are quite less.
Other than colleges with their own entrances, There are various Private Colleges that accept CLAT scores other than the National Law Universities.

I scored 102.5 in clat 2019 and my rank is 10136... what is my chance in nlu assam, nlu aurangabad , hpnlu and in nlu sonipat?

Mahima Student Expert 8th Jul, 2019

Hey.

The cut off for admission in any of the National Law Universities through CLAT in the previous year was a rank in the range of 1600 for the general category. Hence with a rank of 10136 your chances for an NLU under the vacanies are very less. Usually there are vacancies in the lower NLUs as people leave their seats for other colleges.  Various NLUs have started announcing their vacant seats like NLU Raipur. But a rank under 3000 is fair for vacancies. This year the vacanies are quite a lot, so you can stil apply if uoud like to try. But to be honest with your rank if you belong to the general category you have hardly any chances.

Best of luck

Nlu Shimla or vips ???? Which should I prefer

Apurv 7th Jul, 2019

Hello Gunjan, I would suggest you go for HPNLU, Shimla because it's a national law university. The faculty would be a lot better here at this college and degree from this college would be recognized by more people worldwide. There would be a better study environment at this college in comparison to VIPS, Delhi which is a private college.

Should I take admission in hpnlu or not looking at the latest reports about the bad infra, lack of basic amenities there ??

Anik Das 29th Jun, 2019

Hello, all the NLUs in india has a certain brand value for legal studies inspite of whatever shortcomings there may be in terms of infrastructure. Most of these new NLUs have campuses that are not yet complete or are undergoing renovation so that may be the reason for the bad press regarding infrastructure, but give it some time and things would get better soon. So HP NLU is still a very good place in HP for legal studies. Give it a try, if situation is worse than imagined, you could always exit or live in a rented pg or other accomodation.

I have 56 Marks in Clat . 34k air and 1600 sc rank.. I am not in first and second allotment list..

Mahima Student Expert 25th Jun, 2019
Hey Rajat.
With an overall rank of 34,000 and a category rank around 1600 you do not seem to have any chances for admission in any of the National Law Universities through the subsequent lists. The admission cut off for SC category usually goes around 12,000-14000 overall rank and the chances for it to go as high as 34,000 rank are negligible. Your chances in vacancies, if any are also not much.
You can go for private colleges accepting CLAT scores for admission instead.
There are various Private Colleges that accept CLAT scores other than the National Law Universities. Here is a list of a few of them.
ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad
School of Law, GITAM University, Visakhapatnam
Alliance School of Law, Bangalore
IFIM Law College, Bangalore
LLOYD Law College,Greater Noida
Amity University, U.P.
Asian Law College, Noida
Manipal University, Jaipur
