Hello Pratik,
If your family income exceeds 8 LPA, it will affect your eligibility for the NC-OBC category under the CAT reservation rules. The NC-OBC category requires that the family income should be below 8 LPA to qualify. If you anticipate that your income will exceed this threshold, you should update your status and notify the CAT authorities .
Here's what you can do:
Email the CAT authorities
: Inform them about the potential change in your income status and request to be considered under the
General
category, if applicable. You should do this before the examination or any further processing, as your eligibility for the OBC category depends on the income criteria.
Documents and Proof
: Make sure you have a valid
OBC certificate
and any relevant documentation regarding your family income, in case they require verification. Also, be aware that if your income exceeds 8 LPA, you might need to apply under the
General
category, as the OBC-NC reservation is no longer applicable.
General Category Consideration : If your application is accepted as General, you will be evaluated based on the General category criteria, including cutoffs and ranking.
To summarize, notifying the CAT authorities is the correct approach to avoid discrepancies later, and if your income is above the threshold, you will be treated as a General candidate for the admissions process.

Hello,
Yes, you can also join IIMs two years after graduation, depending upon the justification in interviews and your performance in entrance exams. If you are not sure about CAT, try those other management exams less hard:
Common Management Admission Test: Easier than CAT; 4-5 months of continuous preparation will suffice.
MAT : Much easier and takes place thrice a year.
SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test): A bit easier than CAT, apt for Symbiosis Institutes.
Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT : Hence, easier than CAT but the unique decision-making section.
Use exams like CMAT and MAT as a challenge to be competitively prepared. This can be given about 4-5 months, along with a few rounds of mock tests and smart studying.
Hello,
If your signature in the admit card is a little distorted, it's no concern. You have to check that your admit card needs to meet all standards when it comes to identification or verification purposes. What should you do?
Check out the Guidelines: Scan out the instructions from the admit card for the signature part. Usually, they do expect it to be visible and look exactly the way it did on the form.
Contact Authorities: If you are concerned, the best would be to contact the CAT exam authorities or the conducting body (IIMs) to inquire whether this will cause any issues. They can guide you on whether you need to re-upload or fix the signature.
Be Cautionary on Exam Day: Carry a photo ID with you while going for the exam, along with your admit card. This may be needed in the future to verify your identity. Ensure that the signature is clearly visible on the ID.
Always safety is ahead to avoid any last moment complication.
Hello,
A blurry signature on your CAT admit card may raise concerns, as it could be difficult for authorities to verify your identity. However, if the rest of the admit card details, such as your photograph and personal information, are clear and accurate, it might not cause an immediate issue. It's advisable to ensure that your signature is clear during future document submissions.
But if your signature is still recognizable, even if it's slightly blurry, it should generally not cause a major issue. As long as the exam authorities can identify your signature, they may accept it. However, it's always best to ensure that all details on your admit card are clear to avoid any potential problems during the exam.

If you have a leg fracture and are scheduled to appear for the CAT entrance exam, it’s best to contact the CAT exam conducting authorities directly rather than the local exam center alone. CAT is managed centrally by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), and they have established protocols for handling candidates with medical needs. Informing the CAT exam cell (via their official contact channels) will ensure that your request is processed appropriately and documented centrally.
You should explain your medical situation and, if needed, request specific arrangements, such as additional assistance to navigate the exam center or seating adjustments. While reaching out to the CAT exam cell, you may also inquire if additional documentation, such as a medical certificate, is required to facilitate the arrangements. Additionally, contacting the allotted test center as a secondary step could be beneficial, as the local administrators may also help with on-ground assistance.
For official contact information, refer to the CAT website’s helpdesk or contact page, which will have the latest guidelines for handling such requests. Taking these steps should ensure a smoother exam experience despite your injury.

It is not advisable to sit for a major exam like CAT when recovering from a leg fracture but you can.
This is because of the following reasons:
* Physical Discomfort: A fractured leg can be very painful and uncomfortable. This discomfort can distract you from your focus on the exam.
* Limited Mobility: A fractured leg can restrict your mobility, making it difficult to reach the exam center or sit for long hours.
You may increase your chances of exacerbating the injuries and sustaining other injuries during the evaluation in case you do not treat them.
It would always be best to care about your health and strive for recovery. You can post pone the Exam or Seek Medical Advice: Call your doctor to determine whether or not you are capable of doing the examination for diagnosing your physical conditions.
After all, your health comes first. Sorry if it means waiting and recovering instead of risking it all for taking that one exam.

Yes, you might face an issue even if you get admission to any of the business school in 2024 after appearing for the CAT in 2023. Assuming, that the duration of the MCom programme is two-years. It means that when you get admission to the business school, you will be in the second year of your Master's degree programme (MCom). As of now you cannot pursue two degree courses simultaneously at the same time in regular mode. Therefore, you will be required to leave your MCom degree after the completion of the first year.
