84 MonthsResearch in Physics at IISER Pune is intended to cover all contemporary front-ranking research topics, both experimental and theoretical, in the field. These include: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Atomic Physics, Ultracold Atoms, Quantum Optics, Complex Systems and Nonlinear Dynamics, Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics, Gravitation, Quantum Field Theory and String Theory, High Energy Physics, Nanoscience and Nanomaterials, NMR, Quantum Emulation and Quantum Information, Plasmonics and Photonics, "Soft" Condensed Matter Physics.

Eligibility Criteria
The candidate should have a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in the majoring subject) or a CGPA of 6 on a 10 point scale (55% or equivalent CGPA in aggregate for SC, ST and PwD/VH candidates) in BSc/BTech/BE,
and
the candidate should have a rank equal to 500 or better (625 or better for candidates in the reserved categories) in JAM (Physics) or JEST IPhD (Physics). The rank should be valid at the time of admission in August 2025.
(Students currently in the final year of their BSc/BTech/BE programs are welcome to apply. If the candidate is shortlisted after the final interviews a provisional admission will be offered. The final admission is subject to the condition that all of the above eligibility criteria are satisfied.)
Admission Details
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to appear for an interview to be conducted in-person.
The final selection for the program will be based on the candidate's performance in the interview.
