    Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is a four-year (8 Semesters) full-time undergraduate engineering program offered at National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli.

    The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (formerly Department of Metallurgical Engg.) admitted the first batch of B.E. students in 1967. And Since its inception, this department has been one of the premier centers of excellence in the field of Metallurgy. It has expanded since then in many ways and now offers two post-graduate programmes with specialization in Welding Engineering and Materials Science. Both the above courses have been attracting candidates with varied engineering backgrounds and also sponsored candidates from engineering industries and academia. Since 2006, the department is admitting candidates for M.S. and Ph.D. programmes with Institute Fellowships.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Must have passed class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects and secured at least 75% aggregate marks. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65%.

    Admission Details

    Admission to Undergraduate Engineering Program for the candidates from India at NITs, IIITs, Other centrally funded Technical Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/other Qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main).

    So the campus is having very beautiful greenery all around which makes the best nit of india look great. The hostels are although developed but their can be some improvements to make it advanced. I like the mess food.

    Infrastructure is very good but the food is excellent. Facilities are great. Wi-Fi works very fast. Canteen food is great. There is an outdoor and indoor stadium for sports to participate in many events. College provides medical facilities.

    The classrooms are renovated well and have smart class facilities. Wi-Fi is available in each class. A good knowledge resource center is available. If we pay 3000 to 4000 for book banks in the first year, then we can take book banks for four years. After 4 years, we can take books from the library which costs 3000 to 4000 at the end.
