WBSU placement cell organizes placements and it serves as a link between students and the private sector in order to increase student's employability. The university also ensures that the majority of students are placed in various companies by assisting them in every possible manner. At the time of the WBSU placement drive, the university conducts mock tests and practise sessions in aptitude, quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and reasoning to help students practice and get better before appearing for the final interview and written test. Invitation- The WBSU placement cell communicates with recruitment companies and gives them an annexure, which the recruiters must fill out with all relevant information. The WBSU training and placement cell then schedule interviews with several recruiters depending on the salary packages and other eligibility criteria offered by the companies.
Registration- The students have to register for the WBSU placement drive with the training and placement cell, along with the relevant documents, and students who meet all eligibility criteria will be asked to proceed with the recruitment process.
Slot-Allocation- Recruiters will then schedule visits to the WBSU Kolkata campus for conducting the recruitment process, which includes a written test, a group discussion, and an interview.
Pre-Placement Talk- Different recruiting companies give students pre-placement talks to inform them about their policies, roles, and job profiles.
Written Test- WBSU students need to appear and qualify the written test that is divided into different sections such as quantitative aptitude, logical and reasoning ability, English competency to test their skills and basic knowledge.

See it depends upon the course in which you are enrolled and also on the college in which you are seeking admission. Because in course like B.Tech. there is an option of lateral entry through which you can get direct admission to 2nd year of the program, provided that you must have completed diploma before your first year or as you qualifying examination. As per New Education Policy you are allowed to change course as well as college in mid of the course but it is not yet implemented pan India, so I would recommend you to go through the rules of your college regarding admission withdrawal during the ongoing course.

Since, in the first year you had history as your general elective subject, therefore this year as well means in the second year as well your general elective subject will be the same and you do not need to reselect it again .
However if you wish to change your general elective subject then you may do it by contacting your college authority or mailing them, mostly all colleges allow to change the general elective subject in second year but not in the third year.
so you can contact the concerned authorities or respective teacher and ask them to change it, they will guide you .
