The Master of Computer Application (MCA) degree programme is an advancement over the BCA course. It is ideal for students who want to pursue a career in the IT sector. MCA is a three year program and was established in the year 1997 with a sanctioned student intake of 15. The current intake of the programme is 60. The programme is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Bangalore University.

The educational objectives of the MCA program at AIMS Institutes is to enable the students to have a holistic approach to become a thorough professional in the field of IT. Students are trained to have a sound foundation in the fundamentals of computer technology, a high level of practical skill in the use of that technology and at the same time to be sensitive to the issues prevailing in the society. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty members to handle the various subjects of the Master’s program. The department is ably headed by Dr.Sudeshna Das Gupta, a Post Doctorate in C.Sc. The department has produced 2 University Ranks and on an average, 90% of the students pass out with Distinction every year, making AIMS Institutes one of the top MCA colleges in Karnataka.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications for MCA course admissions can vary from state to state and depend on the type of categoryies the students fall into. It is paramount that applicants for the MCA course clearly understand their respective MCA course eligibility.

MCA - Karnataka (General)

The eligibility criteria for Students from Karnataka General Quota is a 50% aggregate & above in graduation
The student needs to secure 50% aggregate In Maths / Statistics / Comp.Sc./ Comp. Prog. / Comp. Applic. / Bus. Maths / Bus. Stats.(Either At 10 + 2 or Degree Level) to be eligible for MCA admissions

MCA - Karnataka (SC / ST / CAT-1)

The eligibility criteria for Students from Karnataka SC/ ST/ CAT- 1 Quota is a 45% aggregate & above in graduation
The student needs to secure 45% aggregate In Maths / Statistics / Comp.Sc. / Comp. Prog. / Comp. Applic. / Bus.Maths / Bus. Stats.(Either At 10 + 2 or Degree Level) to be eligible for MCA admissions

MCA - Non - Karnataka

The eligibility criteria for non - Karnataka students is a 50% aggregate & Above in Graduation
The student needs a 50% aggregate In Maths / Statistics / Comp. Sc./Comp.Prog. / Comp.Applic. / Business Maths / Business Stats.(Either At 10 + 2 or Degree Level)to be considered eligible for MCA admissions course at AIMS Institutes, Bangalore

The students of MCA course come from various academic backgrounds and there is scope for them to get acquainted with the course curriculum as well as to interact with and learn from their classmates and peers. Group activities are also considered a part of the curriculum for inter-cultural exchanges and they help build rapport between students and the faculty.
