College Infrastructure
Campus equipped with modern facilities. Labs have all the necessary equipments. Sports facilities are poor as college doesn't provide those themself, they have partnership with Archadia and they cost heft charges to play. Hostels are average and have it's own problems.
Academics
Not good but average. They focus less on studies and more on attendence. Attendence will be a problem for you. 70 % faculty is good. Have good curriculum. But it solely depends on the student if he/she wants to study.
Placements
Biotechnology has a lower rate of placements. But this is just because of the Biotechnology sector, nothing to do with the college. They do their best in helping students. College is very supportive if you have an idea for startup. College have it's incubation centre.
Value-for-money
Cost is high as it is a private University. BSc will cost you around 1.5 lacs per year and btech 3 lac per year (Biotechnology). Apart from studies college focus more on extra curricular activities to improve your CV.
Campus Life
You will enjoy your time. Infrastructure is good. Security is tight but will annoy you sometimes. Faculty is good and supportive. Classrooms are good and have comfortable seats and are equipped with projectors. College also organise different celebrity functions along with AMITY YOUTH FEST.
Anything Else
If you don't get a govt college and have no other options then amity will be a good choice. However college also provide full scholarship for students having above 95% marks. Don't go to Sharda you will regret it.

Amity Institute of biotechnology is a great option if one wants to pursue a career in biotechnology. Professors are really knowledgeable and ready to share their knowledge and experience with the students. Student crowd is also a mixture of good and bad influence. The diverse culture among the students teaches us the value of the adjustment. Properly designed labs and classrooms filled with all the facilities is a plus point of this University. The strict code of conduct and discipline helps one to emerge out successfully. A foreign language is also added to the course which helps students to settle their career in abroad easily. The college provides a library with an enormous amount of books to help us understand our texts better. Canteens and games in different societies help us making our college life interesting.

The campus is beautiful and the university has great industry connections, particularly the business school. There are umpteen number of cultural activities and college fests. Placements of biotechnology particularly were not focused on research oriented job profiles and unfortunately there was not a lot of guidance towards the research path during the program either, even though the faculty was excellent!

An Underrated Course with huge Potential

Amity University on a whole doesn't go very well with the admission based on merit guidelines. However, the Biotechnology course is completely different. One of the rare good institutes of Biotechnology all over India, the course has one of the best faculty in terms of overall industry experience (which have its drawbacks too). Their laboratories are one of its kind in all of India and definitely helps the students hone their knowledge in Biotechnology. The campus itself is huge and diverse which helps one interact with various students from different backgrounds and courses, and thus helps one grow and learn a lot more than the regular course curriculum. The main concern here is the placements, which as any other engineering institute has a very rare percentage of non-IT based companies visiting. Especially for Biotechnology, where they took about 600 students in a year, there were not even opportunities for 50 students in a Biotechnology company. Also, attendance is a big problem always, and no flexibility is given in that. Overall, the course and college have a huge potential to become one of the best in India and increase the brand image of Amity University as a whole.

Education but at what an exaggerated cost

A lot of stress on theoretical and bookish knowledge and little to none exposure to the practical world. Participating in co-curricular are at the cost of getting Debarred. The Faculty is mostly good but the motivation levels could be bettered. The events in the college are a grand and celebrated affair and there's no dearth of glamour in events. However, the academics quotient of the college can still be questioned. I'd recommend a stronger motivation level to be installed in Students to pursue research instead of claiming placements numbers by homogenizing all mixes of education to IT alone. Instead of boasting a 100% placement record for an institute offering mostly bachelors for engineering in Biotechnology, there should be more stress laid on Research opportunities and foreign university tie-ups as the incubator is not India's strong force in the field even today

Does Amity West Bengal Take any entrance exam for admission and How much Board marks is required to take direct admission and what is its nirf ranking?

Apoorva Student Expert 3rd Apr, 2020

Hello dear student,

There is no as such entrance test but after you register for a course to the university then you have a small test for English and your subject for which you have applied . It's a MCQ based test . After this you will have a personal interview. All this happens in campus . After this you wait for the result for some days and they either mail you the result or they just call you to tell if selected. I hope this was helpful

Thank you

In Amity University Application Form we are ask to submit Sop. What Should I Speak in that Sop video??

Priyaanka Sarkar Student Expert 1st Apr, 2020

Harshit, SOP stands for Statement of Purpose. This is your chance to explain your career goals, ambitions, why you think Amity is the best place for that and why you think you can make it happen in Amity.

  • First off, you need to write down what you want to speak. Introduce yourself, where you are from and where you did your highest qualification from. Talk about your hobbies. Talk about your dreams and ambitions and how you want to get there. Then talk a little about why you think Amity can make those dreams come true for you and how you are willing to learn from Amity. (For this, you need to work on learning about the programme, its faculty).
  • Once you write down what you want to speak, check for grammatical errors and improvise your work. Time yourself and check the duration of the SOP. Practise as much as you can and bring it down to 4--5 minutes.
  • Do not create a video using a selfie stick. Take help from your family and make sure it looks professional. Wear formal clothes because this doesn't call for a T-shirt and shorts occasion.
  • Once you record it, check for the quailuty of the video and your speech. Re-record it if you think it doesn't meet your expectations. Eitherways with lockdown you need something to kill your time on. Its much better if it is perfection that you are working on.
  • Be focussed. But do not keep looking at the person who is recording you. Look straight into the camera. Make sure the SOP is light and not too boring. It should deliver the content with a hinge of humour.

amity university or ip university which is better?

Aashima Puri 24th Mar, 2020

Hey aspirant,

Hope you are doing well!

Both universities are good and have their own advantages and disadvantages. IP University is a state University and Amity is completely a private university. IP has relatively much lower fees than Amity.  Amity university is excellent in terms of infrastructure and extracurricular activities. It offers a plethora of options in extracurricular activities. The infrastructure is beyond amazing. Moreover , Amity has international collaboration with foreign universities. Also , it's very frequently visited by amazingly talented guest speakers. IP has limited amount of seats whereas Amity offers plenty of seats so there are all sorts of people studying in the college.  In terms of placement Amity is really better. Around 300+ companies visit the campus for placement drive. Whereas , some top colleges of IP like VIPS etc are better than Amity University. But , if you can afford the high fees you should definitely go to Amity. Also , Amity teaches compulsory foreign language which is again a plus point in terms of many factors. There are approximately 10-14 subjects per semester in Amity whereas 7-8 subjects in IP every semester.

Both universities have their own plus and minus points this way.

Hope it helps you , all the very best!!!
