College of Fisheries, Mangalore is the elite place of reference for studies and research in fisheries. This institution is one of the colleges recognised by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) in offering different programmes in fisheries science. The admission process in College of Fisheries, Mangalore is highly competitive and the candidates are selected merit-based for various programmes.

For undergraduates, merit in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) is the criterion for admission into the college. College of Fisheries admission into the flagship programme of Bachelor of Fishery Science (B.F.Sc) is limited to just 42 students, therefore very competitive. For admission at College of Fisheries into M.Sc and Ph.D programmes, the candidates are screened through an entrance examination and an interview.

College of Fisheries Application Process

The process of application for College of Fisheries, Mangalore is different in various levels of the programme:

For B.F.Sc Programme:

  • Fill out the application in full and accurately.
  • Attach the asked documents.
  • Submit completely filled application to Registrar, KVAFSU, Bidar as per the notification.
  • Apply the requisite application fee.
  • Be aware for any other selection tests as prescribed by the university.

The college offers various courses of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels all about fishery science. The process of admission to these courses is as follows:

College of Fisheries B.F.Sc (Bachelor of Fishery Science) Admission Process

The B.F.Sc programme is the flagship undergraduate course in the College of Fisheries, Mangalore. Admission into the course is purely dependent on merit. Candidates must have passed the necessary subjects in their 10+2 or equivalent examination. The selection process is based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination and the allocation of seats is based on the merit list prepared by the college.

College of Fisheries M.F.Sc (Master of Fishery Science) Admission Process

M.F.Sc has several specialisations including but not restricted to: Aquatic Environment Management, Fisheries Microbiology, Fisheries Engineering and Technology, Fish Processing Technology, and Fisheries Resources and Management

The procedure of admissions for all M.F.Sc programmes is as follows:

  • Application must be submitted to the Registrar, KVAFSU, Bidar, on the prescribed form according to the notification of the university.
  • Eligible candidates will have to appear for a written examination.
  • Eligible candidates short-listed will be called for counseling at their own expense to a place and time as specified by the university.

College of Fisheries Ph.D Programmes Admission Process

The College of Fisheries, Mangalore will be running doctoral programmes in several specialisations like Fisheries Environment and Ecology, Fishery Microbiology, Fish Processing Technology, Fishery Resources and Management, and Aquaculture. 

The College of Fisheries admission procedure in Ph.D programmes includes:

  • Submission of an application to the Registrar, KVAFSU, Bidar, using the prescribed form as per the university's notification.
  • The university may require candidates to go through an additional selection process which could consist of written tests and interviews.
