The once glorious Cooch Behar Government Engineering College (CGEC) situated at Cooch Behar in West Bengal. This institute bestows the education of quality engineering. With its admission criteria, it tries to select deserving candidates from the pool of applicants. The college receives its recognition from the AICTE, which implies that it follows standards laid down for Technical Education in the country. However, admissions to CGEC are primarily on merit based on two most important entrance examinations, that is Joint Entrance Examination (Main) or JEE Main, and West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE).
