MS General Surgery at Dr DY Patil Medical College, Navi Mumbai Offline Course

Master of Surgery (M.S.) in General Surgery is a three-year full-time postgraduate course, offered by Dr DY Patil University, Navi Mumbai, and approved by National Medical Commission (NMC).

This is a three year postgraduate program recognised by the Medical Council of India. The program includes rotational postings in the departments of General Surgery, General Medicine, Anatomy, Pathology, Radiology and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The student is actively involved in patient care under expert supervision in the General Surgery Out Patient Department, wards, Operation Theatre, Casualty Department and Intensive Care Unit. The student besides being trained in routine general surgical work, is also exposed to Speciality work in the Speciality Departments of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Oncosurgery, Paediatric Surgery and Neurosurgery. Our state of art Simulation Laboratory is used to hone surgical skills in the trainee postgraduate student.

Lectures, Seminars, case discussions and journal club activities ensure dissemination of theoretical knowledge in a systematic manner. The student is encouraged to treat with empathy and develop an attitude of research. The course gives ample exposure to the student to develop clinical and surgical skills in a non-threatening and friendly environment. It lays the foundation for a successful career in the practice of General Surgery and all its Specialities.
