The Dwarkadas J Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJSCE) is located in India’s financial capital of Mumbai, capital of Maharashtra. The Vile Parle block is home to this college, started in the year 1994. The society that runs this institute is also named after this block. It is the Shri Vile Parle Kelvani Mandal (SVKM). It is one of the most respected charitable trusts in the country in the field of education, running numerous top institutions. These institutions of the SVKM are spread out not only in Mumbai, but also in the other cities of Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Navi Mumbai, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and more.
Some of the best- known institutions within the stables of the SVKM include the likes of- the NMIMS University, Mithibai College, NM College of Commerce & Economics and the Bhagubhai Mafatlal Polytechnic. Several schools are also run by the SVKM, catering to the multiple boards of the IB, IGCSE, ICSE or the CBSE. The Dwarkadas J Sanghvi College of Engineering itself is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. This affiliation also ensures the approval of the UGC (University Grants Commission). The DJSCE has been accredited by the NBA (National Board of Accreditation). The Directorate of Technical Education has also granted the DJSCE an A grade certification.
The Mumbai- based Dwarkadas J Sanghvi College of Engineering runs courses right from the UG till doctoral levels. At the undergrad level, the B.E. programmes are available for the engineering areas of- Production, Computer, Electronics, Bio Medical, Information Technology, Chemical, Mechanical and in Electronics & Telecommunication. At the master’s level, the courses get more technical. So, the M. E. programmes are available for three of the UG areas mentioned. The doctorate may also be pursued in those areas. Admissions to these programmes is via national and state- level recognized entrance exams. For the UG programmes, the MH- CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test) suffices along with due consideration towards the merit at school- leaving exams.
Scores of the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Mains may also be considered. The GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) may be used up for master’s level admissions. The DJSCE has also taken up memberships of several professional bodies. These help in developing students more holistically. Some of these bodies here are the IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers), RAS, BSME, ISME (Indian Society for Mechanical Engineers), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), CSI (Computer Society of India), SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) India, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and the IIChE (Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers) besides others.
The college has always believed in providing benefits to the broader society. The students here have likewise been instilled with such value. And that is why the students of this college have been active participants in government schemes such as the NSS (National Service Scheme). Research too forms a key segment in this college. That is why, the library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes. There are also a number of online platforms available on campus to aid in further development such as the NDL (National Digital Library) India.
The campus has much to offer. Banking facilities with ATMs, PG facilities for both boys & girls, convenience stores and access to public transport may all be availed immediately outside the college campus. There is a sports field where cricket and football may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor sports. The gymnasium may also be used by all. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter college level. The campus is Wi- Fi enabled. Science laboratories have the latest of equipment. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is served at the college cafeteria.
In order to improve upon the placement figures, the DJSCE has taken on the initiative to make its students more employable. For this, soft skills training has been started as an integral part of the college. Training has been provided on various personality development areas such as English speaking, work ethics and business etiquettes. The college is also a signatory to the Pariksha pe Charcha initiative. As part of this, the students get greater motivation with regards to their career and exams, after interaction with Mr. Narendra Modi, the Honourable Prime Minister of India. This helps students look at the bigger picture beyond their exams.
The Placement Cell takes care of all the student recruitment activities. Some of the key recruiters over the recent seasons have been the likes of- BNP Paribas, Oracle, L&T, TCS, Amdocs, Bosch, Nerolac Paints, GEP, ATOS, PWC, Morgan Stanley, EY, JP Morgan Chase, Siemens, Mahindra & Mahindra, RIL, HUL, ZS Associates, Fractal Analytics, Revcontent, VCA, Godrej, Infosys and several more. The annual college fest is the Trinity. This and more ensures a thriving campus scene here. Likewise, the college rankings have kept going north. At present, the Careers 360 magazine has placed the DJSCE within the AAA category among engineering colleges.
Careers360 shortlists over 5000 colleges across domains each year. Out of these colleges, only those colleges are rated/ranked which provide transparent data requested by Careers360. The cumulative scores of colleges are then calculated and they are divided into clusters as per their scores. Careers360 ranks private and government colleges separately as the support system of both types of Institutions is completely different.
Based on the individual scores secured by colleges in cumulative score that they have received.
The colleges are ranked as per the cumulative score that they have received. The college that has got the maximum cumulative score will be ranked first while the college that has got least cumulative score will be ranked last.
Institutions that are promoted by the central/state or provincial Government or Government aided agencies.
