The Francis Xavier Engineering College was established in the year 2000. It is popularly known as FX Engineering College. The college offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Engineering and Technology. It also offers programmes in Management Studies and Computer Applications. The college is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University
Location: The college is located at Vannarpettai, in the heart of Tirunelveli town. This is about 3 km from the main Bus Station, 4 km from the City Railway Junction, and 38 km from the nearest Airport at Vagaikulam, Tuticorin. It is well connected with all the neighbouring cities and towns and is easily reachable.

Entrepreneurship and Development Cell: The objective of thIS cell of FX is to provide various information with reference to starting a business to budding student entrepreneurs and to create entrepreneurial culture among students. It fosters better linkages between industries and R and D activities of the college and promotes innovation through the establishment of incubation centre. The cell regularly organizes camps, seminars, workshops, industrial visits and other developmental programmes.
Alumni Association: Alumni association of FX meets once in a year. Alumni who are working in the companies regularly inform the college about the requirement of the companies.
Health Club: The club makes available health-related information to the students.
English Proficiency Club: The club provides training to the students in English Proficiency. This develops in them the ability to cope linguistically in a wide range of professional situations.
Cultural Club: The club encourages artistic activities among students and promotes extra curriculum activities.
Mathematics Club: This club of FX fosters a community of students around a common interest in mathematics. The members of the club get opportunities to apply and improve math skills by participating in math competitions and learning circles.
Music Club: The members of the club get opportunities to attend musical programmes and participate in the learning.
NSS: NSS volunteers conduct a variety of activities, such as orphanage visits, awareness programs and health camps. In addition, the NSS holds annual camps in a rural location, where students of FX assist the residents in the development of their village.
Photography Club: ThIS club of FX is a blend of people who want to capture and create beauty. The club aims to create opportunities for everyone to discover the artist within themselves. It also gives them the platform to paint their dreams into reality.
Quiz Club: The objective of quiz club is to popularize quizzing activities among students and to encourage them to take part in all competitive examination at the state and central level.
Red Ribbon Club: The club organizes awareness camps on AIDS and Blood Donation at regular intervals in village areas. It equipped youth correct information on HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support.
Robotic Club: In this club, students work on automation of things like Arduino, Raspberry Pi and Internet of Things Projects Developed: Home Automation, Basic Line Followers without Micro Controllers, Methane Detector Drone, Smart Dustbin.
Women Empowerment Cell: The cell was established to address the practical issues related to the welfare of and equal opportunities for women faculty members, staff and students.
YRC: The vision of the Youth Red Cross is to become a leading humanitarian organization serving vulnerable people. The members of the club regularly take part in the various events and promote humanitarian services in society.

Anti Ragging Committee: Anti-Ragging Committee of FX Engineering ensures compliance with the provisions of the regulations as well as the provisions of the law concerning ragging is in force. Exams and Cutoffs
The Francis Xavier Engineering College (FX), Tirunelveli offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering and technology. It also offers programmes in management studies and computer applications. To get admission to B.E offered by the FX, students need to appear for the state level counseling - Tamilnadu Engineering Admission (TNEA), conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu. There is no entrance test for TNEA counseling and the merit list will be prepared based on the candidates' score at 12 class, choice filling, choice locking, and document verification. Admission to M.E, M.Tech, and MBA is based on the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). To get an admission to MCA the candidates need to submit the application form to the concerned department of the FX. The detailed admission process of the FX is given below.
Admission process for B.E.:
Students need to appear for the counseling - Tamilnadu Engineering Admission (TNEA), conducted by the Department of Technical Education (DoTE) of Tamil Nadu.
DoTE conducts Single Window Counseling through Anna University, Chennai
For appearing in counseling round students need to register in TNEA portal.
The final list will be prepared accordingly the weightage to percentile obtained by the candidate in TNEA and board exam.
Admission process for M.E:
Students need to appear for the entrance examination - (TANCET), conducted by Anna University.
Students can visit the official website of Anna University to register themselves for TANCET.
Counseling is conducted based on the ranking in the entrance examination.
Candidates with a valid GATE score are eligible for direct admission.
The final selection is based on the merit list prepared by the authoritative body.
Admission process for MBA:
The candidate should possess a decent score in any of the entrance examinations such as the TANCET and Common Entrance Exam from the Consortium of Self-financing Institutions of Anna University.

Library: Francis Xavier Engineering College library has well-trained staff and well-managed library system to enrich the student’s community with a wide range of academic resources such as books, periodicals, online periodicals, databases, back volumes, CDs/DVDs, project reports, audio/video cassettes, and question bank. The library has the facility of NPTEL, EDUSAT, and DELNET
Computer Centre: The centre is equipped with the latest instruments, computers, servers, as well as most modern software required to instruct the students and carry out prescribed practical hours to complement classroom learning. The resources and facilities of all the FXEC labs benefit the excellent reputation and standards.
Sports: FX has indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Indoor games like carrom, table tennis, chess are available in the hostel. The college has a well-furnished football field and cricket fields. It also has a hockey field, handball, volleyball and badminton court.
GYM: The college has well-equipped gym facilities for the healthy lifestyle of the students.
