About Global College of Pharmaceutical Technology, Nadia

Global College of Pharmaceutical Technology is a relatively new institution, established in the year 2018. This affiliated college at Krishnagar, West Bengal, has risen fast in the field of pharmaceutical education. The GCPT has AICTE and PCI approval and imparts quality education on its sprawling 4-acre campus. The student-teacher ratio is on a very excellent scale with a total enrolment of 57 students and 36 as the faculty strength. GCPT has at present two specialized courses in pharmacy at degree and diploma levels, which proves its focused approach to pharmaceutical education.

This college is fully facilitated with adequate infrastructure to provide an amicable atmosphere for learning to the students. The campus is fully equipped with well-furnished laboratories, equipped with modern instruments, necessary for hands-on training in pharmaceutical studies. A well-spaced library, named "Information Centre," consists of more than 2,000 books and subscribes to over 100 national and international pharmaceutical journals, including e-journals. Much emphasis is put on technology, which is reflected in a fully WiFi-enabled campus, smart classrooms equipped with audio-visual systems, etc. GCPT maintains separate hostels for boys and girls; the girls' hostel can accommodate about 50 students in well-furnished, hygienic rooms. The college has also ensured that a canteen, sports facilities, and a transport system are in place for students and staff.

Global College of Pharmaceutical Technology presently offers two full-time courses: 4 years Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma) and 2 years Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharma). These proposed courses have an approved intake of 60 each, thus totaling 120 seats for all programs together. This absolutely concentrated curriculum allows GCPT to maintain high standards in pharmaceutical education and provides individual attention to each student.

The admission process in GCPT is merit-based and comprises certain prescribed steps. For admission to the first year of the B.Pharma program, a candidate has to qualify in the WBJEE conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board or JEE (Mains) held for the current admission year. In the case of the D.Pharma program, a candidate has to qualify in JEXPO conducted by the State Council for Technical Education. These entrance examinations at all levels ensure that the College admits students with a good foundation in the concerned subjects. Nadia which is affiliated to Global College of Pharmaceutical Technology (GCPT). It is one of the new colleges specializing in pharmaceutical education. The merit-based admission process is conducted for pharmacy education courses. GCPT is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) which assures its high quality educational standards. The admission procedure at GCPT is determined mostly by entrance test campuses. The candidates qualifying for a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) program either qualify WBJEE conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board, or Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, for admission in the pharmacy program. 

These entrance examinations occur annually within the months of April and May for WBJEE. Candidates must qualify under the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics (JEXPO) conducted by State Council for Technical Education in India to apply for the Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma). The yearly schedule for JEXPO is usually between May and June. Adopting these standardized entrance examinations assures that GCPT admits only those with good foundation knowledge in the subject relevant to the program. This conforms to the institution's commitment to high academic standards in pharmaceutical education.

Application Process

The admission process for GCPT is as follows:

1. Entrance Exam Registration:

  • For B.Pharma: Either WBJEE or JEE Main must be registered through the official websites.
  • For D.Pharma: JEXPO must be registered through the official website of the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education.

2. Entrance Exam:

  • Appear in the entrance examination for respective programs on the specified date.
  • The WBJEE 2025 application process is estimated to start from January 21, 2025, and end on February 22, 2025. The examination is conducted online.

3. Result Declaration: Wait till the results are announced for the entrance exam.

4. Counseling Process:

  • Based on the rank obtained in the entrance exam, the qualified candidates will be called for counseling.
  • Candidates during counseling have to choose the preferred college and course.

5. Document Verification: If a candidate is allotted a seat in GCPT, he will have to report to the college for verification of documents.

Normally, the following documents are required:

  • Entrance exam rank card
  • Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and certificates
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-size photographs

6. Fee Payment: The required fees are paid to confirm your admission after successful document verification.

7. Enrolment: Complete the process of enrollment in GCPT by filling up the necessary forms and submitting any additional documents required by the college.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Pharma: The Bachelor of Pharmacy program at GCPT has an approved intake of 60 seats. Admission into this four-year program is based on merit either in WBJEE or JEE Main. Eligibility conditions usually include clearing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subjects. Total fees to be paid for the B. Pharma Program is Rs. 3,72,000.

D.Pharma: The seats occupied under the Diploma in Pharmacy program are also 60. The admission for this two-year program is based upon the merit gained by the candidate in JEXPO. Eligibility criteria for admission usually require passing at least 10 + 2 with science subjects. The fee structure for D.Pharma is not available in the given information.
