Government Engineering College, Idukki was established in the year 2000 under the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Kerala. The college is known as GEC Idukki. The Government Engineering College, Idukki is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. It is a government college which has seven academic departments.
The Government Engineering College Idukki has been ranked AAAA by careers360 for the year 2024. GEC Idukki offers B.Tech and M.Tech programmes. The admissions to the B.Tech programmes are through the KEAM and the M.Tech course requires GATE scores. The GEC Idukki has a very active career advice cell that hosts a variety of soft skill development workshops and programmes to encourage students to improve their scores.

GEC Idukki Scholarship
Government Engineering College, Idukki offers many scholarships to its students based on their performance in academics. Similarly, The Government of Kerala also introduced various scholarships to meritorious students belonging to socially and economically backward categories. For these scholarships, GEC Idukki students have to meet the eligibility requirements. The first step to get these scholarships is that the candidates have to apply.
To avail of those scholarships, GEC Idukki students have to fulfill the eligibility criteria like performance in academics, annual income of parents, categories etc. The scholarships for GEC Idukki students are Central Sector Scholarship, Merit Scholarship to the Children of School Teachers, Muslim Nadar Girls Scholarship, Muslim Girls Scholarship, Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship, State Merit Scholarship, District Merit Scholarship, Merit Cum Means Scholarship and Meana Scholarship. The amount Meana scholarship is that the meritorious candidate will get a scholarship of $150 per year for the next four years, or until the course is completed.
GEC Idukki students can also avail sports scholarship from MG University and this scholarship is awarded to selected students for their outstanding performance in games and sports. In Fisheries grant, the Fisheries Development Department provides educational assistance to children of registered fishermen. For this scholarship, candidates have to fill the application form available only from the Fisheries office. Except this, students who have passed a diploma in engineering with an aggregate of 45% marks (40% marks for reserved category) are also eligible to get admission to the same course at GEC.
9: What is the selection criteria for M.Tech admission at GEC Idukki?
For getting admitted to the M.Tech course at GEC, students must have to go through the GATE entrance exam and should get a valid score followed by a counselling session. Along with this students must have a Bachelor's degree with an aggregate of 50% marks (45% marks for reserved category). After the verification of documentation and payment of the course fee, students get admission.
