Haldia Institute of Pharmacy, Haldia started in 2018, and located at Purba Medinipur, West Bengal. This affiliated college has risen fast in the stream of pharmacy education with two specialized courses in pharmaceuticals. Being approved by AICTE and PCI, having a small 3.01-acre campus, with an enrolment of 243 and a faculty strength of 27, which ensures a very good student-to-teacher ratio. 

The Institute has a number of facilities to help students learn properly and develop their personalities. Laboratories are the backbone of the academic infrastructure at HIP and are well equipped to AICTE standards by following the guidelines laid down by PCI. These labs would help in imparting practical training in the art and skills related to various pharmaceutical disciplines. The Library with more than 1,955 books will thus act as a knowledge hub with its vast collection of different types of textbooks, reference books, and pharmaceutical journals of Indian and foreign origin. For academic and cultural events, HIP has a fully air-conditioned mini-auditorium with a capacity of 100 seats, ideal for seminars, conferences, and video conferencing. The IT infrastructure of HIP also aids learning with modern equipment, while the boys' and girls' hostel facilities assure comfortable accommodation to the out-station students.

Haldia Institute of Pharmacy running two moot courses in the pharmacy sector. At the undergraduate level, the institute offers one course in the form of a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, and at the diploma level, there is a Diploma in Pharmacy course. The B. Pharma course extends over four years, and the D. Pharma is a two-year course.

Haldia Institute of Pharmacy, Haldia Admission

HIP offers specialised courses in pharmacy. The admission process that the institute follows is completely merit-based; thus, only eligible candidates can avail seats in the programme. HIP has received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), thereby ensuring that the quality of education is provided. Hip was admitted through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, which itself is a state-level entrance examination. One of the most significant exams for applying to Hipp, an institution specialising in B.Pharm courses, is conducted mainly every April, with the next given date scheduled for April 26, 2025.

Eligibility criteria for HIP admission programmes include completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subjects. Minimum marks insisted by regulatory bodies and a good performance in the WBJEE are also mandatory conditions for HIP admission.

HIP Application Process

The application process is mostly oriented towards Haldia Institute of Pharmacy Haldia through the WBJEE for the B.Pharm course. Here is a stepwise application process:

  • WBJEE Registration: Mere first registering for the joint entrance examination in West Bengal should be done by the candidates. The application process for WBJEE usually proceeds a couple of months prior to the main examination date.
  • WBJEE Exam: Candidates will take WBJEE on the date mentioned (April 26, 2025, for the upcoming cycle). The examination is entirely offline.
  • WBJEE result: Applicants will wait till the announcement of WBJEE results, which are traditionally within a few weeks after the exam.
  • Counselling process: The qualified candidates would be called to participate in the counselling process as WBJEE-qualified candidates. During this process, they can select Haldia Institute of Pharmacy as their preferred institution.
  • Document Verification: With the allotment at HIP, candidates will also be required to report to their site for the verification of documents.
  • Fee Payment: Following the successful verification of documents, the candidate will be required to pay HIP admission fees to secure his/her place in the course.
  • Final Admission: Upon completion of all steps outlined above, final HIP admission into B. Pharm at the Haldia Institute of Pharmacy will be granted.

HIP Degree-wise Admission Process

Depending on the degree, the criteria and steps for admission may differ under university and state policies. The following information outlines the specific process for each course offered by the college.

HIP B.Pharma Admission Process 

This is a four-year undergraduate course that falls under the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. HIP admission into this course will depend on the performance of the candidate in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). For B.Pharm, the approved intake is 100 seats at HIP, and candidates must have already completed their 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. 

HIP D.Pharma Admission Process

The Diploma in Pharmacy is a two-year course offered by HIP. The institute has an approved intake of 60 seats for this course. HIP admission details for the D.Pharma course are not mentioned, but it can be inferred that admission has been granted based on the candidate's performance in their 10+2 science subjects.
