HIP offers specialized courses in pharmacy. The admission process that the institute follows is completely merit-based; thus, only eligible candidates can avail seats in the program. HIP has received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), thereby ensuring that the quality of education is provided. Hip admitted through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, which itself is a state-level entrance examination. One of the most significant exams for applying into Hipp, an institution specializing in B.Pharm courses, is conducted mainly every April, with the next given date scheduled for April 26 2025.
Eligibility criteria for admission into HIP programs include completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subjects. Minimum marks insisted by regulatory bodies and a good performance in the WBJEE are also mandatory conditions for admission.
Application Process
The application process is mostly oriented towards Haldia Institute of Pharmacy, Haldia, through the WBJEE for the B.Pharm course. Here is a stepwise application process:
1. WBJEE Registration: Mere first registering for the joint entrance examination in West Bengal should be done by the candidates. The application process for WBJEE usually proceeds a couple of months prior to the main examination date.
2. WBJEE Exam: Candidates will take WBJEE on the date mentioned (April 26, 2025, for the upcoming cycle). The examination is entirely offline.
3. WBJEE result: Applicants will wait till the announcement of WBJEE results, which are traditional within a few weeks after the exam.
4. Counselling process: The qualified candidates would be called to participate in the counselling process as WBJEE qualified candidates. During this process, they can select Haldia Institute of Pharmacy as their preferred institution.
5. Document Verification: With the allotment at HIP, candidates will also be required to report at their site for the verification of documents. The documents usually include:
6. Fee Payment: Following the successful verification of documents, the candidate will be required to pay the admission fees to secure his/her place in the course.
7. Final Admission: Upon completion of all steps outlined above, final admission into B. Pharm at the Haldia Institute of Pharmacy will be granted.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.Pharm: This is a four-year undergraduate course that falls under the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. Admission into this course will depend on the performance of the candidate in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). For B.Pharm, the approved intake is 100 seats at HIP, and candidates must have already completed their 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.
D.Pharm: The Diploma in Pharmacy is a two-year course offered by HIP. The institute has an approved intake of 60 seats for this course. Admission details for the D.Pharm course are not mentioned, but it can be inferred that admission has been granted based on the candidate's performance in their 10+2 science subjects.
