MAPIMS Kancheepuram Admission Process

MAPIMS set foot in the medical horizon, aspiring to become one among the best medical institutions in the world. It offers a bouquet of medical studies in undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs. The institute has a merit-based admission process to select the best and most deserving candidates from all over India. The admission process at MAPIMS starts mostly in May-June for the academic year commencing in August-September. The admissions are done basically through entrance examinations conducted at the national level, depending on the type of program. The undergraduate program MBBS admits applicants based on their NEET-UG examination score. The postgraduate admissions for MD and MS programs are carried through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduates (NEET-PG).

In order to qualify for the undergraduate courses, the applicants must fulfill the basic eligibility criteria of passing the 10+2 examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the compulsory subjects. For most courses, a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying examination would be required. Postgraduate applicants should have completed the MBBS degree from a recognized university. The important dates for admissions will vary for the several examination options and programs. The exam for NEET-UG 2025 will run from February 7 to March 7, 2025, for the application process. NEET-PG 2025 counseling dates are set, with the stray round result expected to be on February 19, 2025.

Application Process

The application procedure in MAPIMS differs from course to course:

For MBBS:

  1. Qualifying in NEET-UG.
  2. Applying via the centralized counselling process, which is run by the respective state or central authorities.
  3. Opting for MAPIMS and their preferred courses at the counselling.
  4. Reporting to MAPIMS to verify the documents and pay the fees if a seat is allotted.

For MD/MS Programs:

Qualifying in NEET-PG.

  1. Applying via the centralized counselling process for PG medical admissions.
  2. Opting for MAPIMS and their respective specializations at the time of counselling.
  3. Post-selection into MAPIMS, students should complete the admission formalities.

General documents for admission include:

  • (NEET score card)
  • (Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates
  • (For PG admissions, MBBS degree certificate and mark sheets)
  • (Valid ID proof
  • (Passport size photographs
  • Caste certificate, if applicable
  • Additional relevant certificates specified by the institute/counselling authority

Selection will be based on opening and closing ranks in NEET-UG for MBBS and NEET-PG for postgraduate courses. Candidates are advised to check the official website of MAPIMS and of the respective counselling authorities for updates regarding applications, important dates, and additional requirements.

Degree-wise Admission Process

MBBS: The MBBS program at MAPIMS has 150 seats. Candidates are admitted on the basis of NEET-UG performance. Candidates must undergo 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. If they qualify in NEET-UG, they are eligible.

MD/MS Programs: MAPIMS offers a range of MD and MS programs including General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Pharmacology, Anatomy, Pathology, General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Physiology, Microbiology, Paediatrics, Forensic Medicine, Biochemistry, Anaesthesiology, Radio Diagnosis, Community Medicine, and Otorhinolaryngology. Admission to these programs will be based on NEET-PG scores. The number of seats may vary for each specialization, 2 to 5 per program.

B.Sc. Programs: The B.Sc programs at the Institute are those of Dialysis Technology (20 seats), Critical Care Technology (10 seats), Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology (10 seats), Medical Record Science (10 seats), and Accident & Emergency Care Technology (10 seats). The admission procedure for these programs is not mentioned explicitly but is perhaps based on the 10+2 score in the relevant subject.

Diploma Programs: MAPIMS offers 15 seats for a Diploma in Medical Lab Technology. The admission process for this program has not been mentioned but may have a separate application.
