Both Physical and Mental Health play an important role in the well-being of an Individual. In tune with the objective of all-round development of the students, the department of Physical Education is equipped with a multi gym.
The college has In the present era of the knowledge revolution, the relevance of a college library is ever-increasing. Responding positively to the newly-defined roles of a college library in the present scenario, Payyanur College Library has taken measures to make the latest items of knowledge accessible to the academic community.
The College Library became functional on 02.08.1965, the same year in which the college was established. In the beginning, the library was housed in a small room in the Main Block and there were only 332 books, two dailies, and their weeklies in the library. Now (as of 30.11.2006) it has a collection of 45000 books,89 academic journals, 50 periodicals, including career magazines, and 10 newspapers. In addition, it has a collection of about 200 CD ROMS.
At present, the library is functioning as two separate units, viz. Central Library and Department Libraries. Realizing the effectiveness of a Centralized Library setup and upholding the true spirit of the Government's directions in this respect, more Department libraries are being centralized. The Department Libraries of Commerce, History, and Political Science have already been centralized at various points in time. However, the present building in which the Central Library is housed suffers from a lack of space for accommodating all the Department Libraries.
The college has facilities for indoor games like table tennis.
The College has A fully equipped computer lab with 36 computers set up in the college with financial aid from Sri. P. Karunakaran, Member of Parliament, under MPLAD Scheme. The systems are networked and have broadband connectivity with an unlimited download facility. Practical classes for computer papers for various courses are also held in the center.
The college A canteen which provides quality food at an affordable price is functioning in the college. Apart from breakfast and meals, the canteen also supplies appetizing snacks and refreshing beverages. Proper hygiene is maintained by the canteen staff. Moreover, the quality and the taste of the dishes are always monitored. Mid-Day Meal is also provided here. Staff and students are given comfortable seating facilities inside the canteen. The lush green outside enhances the appetite. The waste management system of the canteen is also strictly monitored.
The college has A fully-furnished 1000-seater auditorium is a proud possession of the college. All the major functions are conducted here. The spacious College auditorium has hosted a variety of fascinating events. The stage is set in such a manner that ensures visibility to everyone seated in the auditorium. It has a capacity to hold more than 600 people. The well-ventilated auditorium with multiple entrances provides a platform for students to exhibit their talents.
The college has The association assists the college in instituting scholarships, organizing lectures, and giving lectures by utilizing alumni members, as well as providing financial and logistic support to the various programs organized by the college. The Alumni are helping the students with their project work and also about the employment opportunities in their respective organizations in India and abroad. The affairs of the association are managed by an executive committee consisting of the President, three Vice Presidents, the Secretary, three Joint Secretaries, the Treasurer, and thirty committee members. The manager of College Management, the Principal, and one representative each from all department alumni associations either President or Secretary will be Ex Officio members of the executive committee. The Lifetime Membership fee is Rs. 2000/- and the Ordinary membership fee is Rs. 500/- for 3 years which has to be renewed from time to time. The membership fee for outgoing students is Rs. 100/- for enrolling them in the Payyanur College General alumni association.
