Hi Kushal, thanks for contacting Careers360. Definitely IBS is one of the top colleges with respect to faculty management as well as placement wise. It provides good placement package for marketing field. IBS Hyderabad is the top of all the IBS colleges and IBS mumbai comes second to it. And coming to the second question, Post Graduate Programme in Management is an one year course mainly aimed at aspirants who are looking to go to next level in their career, or looking to run after their family business or entrepreneurs who are highly skilled. It is an one year course and is also high cost compared to MBA. Whereas MBA is a two year full course for freshers as well as those who have a less exposure to industrial work experience and those who aspire to get into a higher exposure side from beginning. It is low cost studies compared to PGPM and the placement is also relatively less compared to PGPM. For enrolling into IBS, one has to clear IBSAT in order to acquire admissions.

Hello Shabhari,
MBA - UGC REG - MBA DEGREE - ALLOWED IN FOREIGN AND GOVT INSTITUTE
PGDM - NEED TO BE AICTE AND AIU APPROVED-- EQ TO MBA -- DIPLOMA
PGPM - CRRCERTIFI ISSUED BY COLLEGE -- LESS VALUE-- NO GOVT APPLICABILITY
MBA>PGDM>PGPM
All the best
I think PGDM is better because for AICTE programmes of PGDM we have equivalence certificate to MBA.
IFIM Business School’s Bespoke Management Programmes allow students to create their own learning paths and career goals. The flexibility to choose courses freely enables students to custom-create a curriculum uniquely suited to their individual needs and aspirations. Students can pace their learning – they can take extra credits or reduced credits – according to their aptitude. They can even choose to drop a course if they are so inclined. The ultimate purpose is to leverage their strengths and align their learning paths to the needs of the Industry and Business.
IFIM is the only institution with a completely flexible PGDM programme, patterned on leading international B-School curriculum, which has been widely appreciated by the corporates as they get highly-focused resources.

PGDM and PGPM stand for Post Graduate Diploma in Management and Post Graduate Program in Management. They are diplomas that are offered by IIMs and other private MBA colleges that cannot award degrees since they arent under any university. It is similar to a MBA. A PGDM from an IIM has the same value as a MBA in the industry. So, PGDM, PGPM and MBA are the same things. Executive MBA is however different. It is what working professionals having more than 5 years of work experience pursue so that they can work and at the same time get a MBA. That being said yes of course you can apply for marketing and finance jobs both in colleges. Domain specialization is something that is not decided by the course you choose. When you opt for a PGDM course or a MBA you can specialize in any domain you want to at the end of two years. In order to specialize in marketing or finance you have to opt for certain subjects offered and fulfill a certain credit requirement in that domain.
No it's not at all the case that institutes offering MBA course admit only the candidates with work experience. In fact the trend is such that, all the top institutes like IIMs, etc want to ensure a balance between the number of freshers and work experience students. However, the proportion of Fresher and work experience students admitted might differ in different institutes in different years depending upon a number of factors which are beyond the scope of current discussion. If you are a Fresher, you will be solely evaluated on the basis of your CAT percentile, 10th & 12th percentages (certain institutes give very little weight to these percentages too), your graduation percentage, other academic and non-academic performance during your under graduation, WAT or GD and PI, ultimately. On an ending note, let me tell you that IIMA in one batch had 65% freshers and the trend remains pretty much the same. Almost every IIM today, tries to ensure at least 30% Fresher students in its batch.
Nevertheless, if you are giving CAT'18 then wish you all the best!!
Both are the good management programmes. The difference are that Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is a certificate course, It not necessarily approved by AICTE. It can be a typical one year program or can be of any duration as decided by that particular Institute. Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a diploma after a graduation issued by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) recognized institutions. Institutes and b-schools offering PGDM course are autonomous body with industry-oriented curriculum. Duration of PGDM is up to two years and is normally a full-time program. Industries consider PGDM as equivalent to MBA for employment purposes.
PGPM program carry very less importance and development opportunities. PGDM is a degree that enables you to pursue higher education like Ph.D but completing a PGPM program does not facilitates you to opt for higher studies.
PGPM program does not acquire any approval While AICTE approved PGDM programs are universally accepted and offers superior education quality as per AICTE standards.
The choice should be yours as per your interest.
Good Luck!
