- PGP stands for Post Graduation Programme in Management
- PGEX is a Post Graduation Programme in Management for Executives.
Can you know that Unitedworld is best pgdm/pgpm school?
UWSB is among top B-Schools in India, whose PGDM admissions are sought after by aspirants from across the country. Its excellent placements and industry connections unlike any other PGDM institute in India make UWSB a rare gem among business schools in India. This unique PGDM institute in India has a mission to deliver world-class education through guest lecturers from academic celebrities, strategically devised UG & PG courses, expert faculties and a real-world exposure giving UWSB an edge among top B schools in India, making it a preferred destination for PGDM admission.
I want to do MBA with finance specialization in IIMs of 2 years course. I searched in website but they showing PGPM PGDM.
In India, only a University can offer degrees such as an MBA, Any other educational institution which is not affiliated to a University cannot offer a degree.
PGDM stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Management, as PGP is Post Graduate Program Diploma.
the reason as to why postgraduate courses are named as PGDM is because when an Institute is an autonomous body and offers management courses, then such Institutes cannot offer an MBA degree.
Executive MBA or PGDM is a postgraduate management programme for working professionals who want to upgrade their managerial skills.
Hope this helps, All the best!
Getting MBA degree or PGDM /PGPM degree which one is more beneficial?
MMS/MBA MMS stands for Master of Management Studies while MBA stands for Master of Business Administration and there is no difference between the two of them as it is just a case of University nomenclature (the term MMS is used in Maharashtra in place of MBA). Now these courses are offered by Colleges that are affiliated to Universities who have received approval from AICTE and thus everything is decided by the University and the Colleges simply follow the guidelines handed down to them.
PGDM/PGPM PGDM stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Management while PGPM stands for Post Graduate Program in Management and again there is no difference between the two of them and it is just a case of how Colleges structure or name their courses. Now these courses are offered by Colleges that are not affiliated to any University but have directly received approval from AICTE to run their own programs.
Now comparing MMS and PGDM, both the programs are of 2 years and are full time courses but there are a few differences between them and we shall discuss them in detail below.
1. Approval Have discussed this above.
2. Curriculum In MMS, there is a fixed curriculum which is decided by the University and a lot of people are of the view that it is outdated (which could be right in a few cases). But if one takes a look at any good College, they always cover more than the given curriculum and make sure students do not miss out on anything that could help them when they join a Company. Now in PGDM, the curriculum is modifiable and is generally updated according to industry standards (the best example of this being the Digital Marketing courses offered by a lot of Colleges with it being one of the most happening industry skills right now). In totality, it can be said that PGDM courses are much more flexible than MMS courses as they are not bound by any University but all good Colleges offering MMS courses make sure that their students learn everything that is needed.
3. No of seats The no of seats are limited for MMS courses whereas for PGDM courses, the number of seats are more as colleges decide the number of students they want to admit in every program.
4. Fees The fees for MMS courses is generally lower in comparison to PGDM courses.
5. Industry placements Most Companies do not differentiate between students from MMS and PGDM courses and the same is applicable for Colleges as they allow students from both courses to sit together for placements.
6. PhD In case someone wants to pursue a PhD, MMS courses are the way to go as a student opting for a PGDM course wont be able to pursue one.
So in summary, MMS and PGDM courses have their advantages and disadvantages but at the end of the day, it wont matter a lot whether you pursue a MMS or PGDM course as it is the college you join which will ultimately shape your future. For example, IIMs offer PGDM courses and are considered to be THE best Colleges in India (the older IIMs to be precise). On the other hand, JBIMS and FMS offer MBA/MMS courses (and MBA/MMS courses are supposed to inferior in comparison to PGDM courses) but they are still better than a lot of other Colleges in India which offer PGDM courses.
hi what is PGPM and what is FPM ..please tell me...which course is better ..
The two-year full-time Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) is the flagship programme of IIMs. Its main objective is to develop young men and women into competent professional managers, capable of working in any sector of organized activity, proceeding leadership and achieving excellence in performance while contributing to the welfare of the larger society. The programme specifically attempts to:
Equip students with the required conceptual and interpersonal skills and sense of social purpose for managerial decision-making,
Develop leadership capabilities to act as change agents and be a source of motivation in the organizations they work in,
Nurture the desire to excel in performance without compromising integrity, honesty and fairness.
It is equivalent to the Masters in Management program for entry to mid career professionals. It is usually slightly at a higher level that MIM and slightly below MBAs offered by universities abroad.
The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is the doctoral programme of the Indian Institute of Management . The objective of the programme is to provide students with necessary skills to identify and research complex issues in the field of management. FPM seeks candidates with outstanding academic backgrounds, intellectual curiosity and discipline needed to make scholarly contribution.
FPM is a research programme. To the selected students, IIM provides an excellent environment for carrying out advanced research, thus creating highly committed researchers trained in the most recent methodologies and engaged in producing original research work.
IIM’s doctoral programme provides a diverse set of opportunities for interdisciplinary education and research. The small entering class ensures close interaction with the faculty, where students can determine their own directions under the guidance of their thesis advisory committees.
The student becomes part of one of the eleven functional/sectoral groups and acquires the basic theoretical knowledge and practical aspects of the area. This allows close interaction with faculty members, who provide the intellectual stimulation and help develop the student’s own research interests and professional goals. The programme is strongly committed to preparing thought leaders both for the academic and corporate world.
Students spend generally a little over four years that includes two years of rigorous course work. Course work in the first year provides a general management overview and develops basic skills for analyzing managerial problems. In the second year, students take advanced doctoral level courses in their areas of specialization. The doctoral dissertation, for the next couple of years, provides them with an opportunity to make original contribution to an area of management or to one of its source disciplines.
Ibs Pune is good for mba or pgpm.
This is very good in my point of view because of The college focuses on overall development. The best thing about studying in IBS is the case discussion and 14-week summer internship program. The average placement ranges from 6-6.5 lacs (average). The college is situated in a posh locality in Hadapsar.
The fees for the 2-year duration is around 7.5 lacs. The institute provides financial assistance through tie-ups with different financial institutes for providing education loans. The fees are to be paid in parts at the starting of each semester and before the internship.
The average placement package ranges between 6-6.5 lacs p.a. The college offers international placement particularly in the middle east and African countries. The average package (international) ranges between 9-11 lacs p.a. Almost 200 companies come to campus for final placement
The college does not provide any hostel facility. The student needs to search for his own accommodation. However, there are many options available near the college. The college is located in a central location, therefore, flats and rooms are easily available
The institute has a good range of alumni network. A student is given the facility to contact his seniors and alumni on different issues.
The college focuses on choosing the best faculty. Most of the faculties have around a decade of industrial experience. This is to ensure that students get theoretical as well as industrial experience. Also, the college provides additional training on excel, aptitude, soft skill etc.
Apart from normal studies, the institute focuses on conducting extracurricular activities too. The college also has facilities for indoor as well as outdoor games like volleyball court and basketball court. Gym facility is also available for students and teachers. Also, the current gender ratio is approx 40:60 (girls: boys)
I am planning to go to IBS Mumbai for marketing PGPM. Is it a good college to be associated with?
Well, if you are in just for the degree then yea, why not! Half the batch in IBS Mumbai comes here for fun, just for the degree. Trust me you don't want to have that kind of company if you are pursuing a professional course.
There are things an MBA college teaches, and IBS Mumbai does none of them.
There are these good for nothing clubs, which organize events, and nothing else. The learning atmosphere is zero, all students care about is grades, and the case study method of learning is a good way to go, but when you have half disinterested students, only for the degree, you can never have a learning experience.
At the end of 2 years, students can’t even make a decent CV for themselves. I did make a mistake of joining, but i did pretty well for myself. Campus placements are bleak (do check for the latest ones from a current student)
The college was supposedly good 5–6 years back as the batch size was small, there were good students, but now the strength has gone up to 600–700. So naturally the entire scenario changed, and during my time 2012–2014, there were close to 700 odd students, barely 350 got placed, and out of those 350 the highest package was probably 8–10LPA and only 10–12 students got through.
My advice, don’t go there an MBA is tough, and it teaches you a lot, IBS Mumbai teaches nothing, I barely struggled during my MBA it was too easy to be true, I see friends pursuing MBA from other colleges and I see the amount of hard work they put in and practical knowledge they gain by taking part in competitions/classes/case studies etc.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask me,
I scored 62 percentile which college will I get for MBA/PGPM in Mumbai

Which one is best for mba or pgpm Ibs Pune and presidency university.
Heyy Pruthibi Pattanaik....
IBS Pune and the presidency University, the IBS Pune is a lot more better in all aspects be it academic be it infrastructure be it placement be it return of investment etc. Average placement package is above 7lpa. Also the IBS Pune follows the proper tactics as the Harvard University in teaching curriculum.
Is it possible to convert pgpm mdi gurgaon with 95.77 in cat. X/XII/GRAD - 92/76/66 AND ten months exp and average watgdpi
Congratulations on your call for MDI Gurgaon.
Your CAT percentile and 10th percentage are not a worry at all. Although your 12th and graduation percentage can be a little bit of worry.
As far as gauging GDPI goes, we might think it went average but the perception of the panel might be different. They don't generally look for you to have perfect answers to everything they ask but how well you tackle questions you aren't sure about. They check your confidence and presence of mind as well.
So let's hope they have a different opinion about your GDPI. But like I said anything can happen and you can't be sure until the list comes out. So sit tight and wait for it.
All the best!
