Pratiksha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Guwahati Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college has a library which looks after its continuous development and up-gradation. The team has been formed to formulate rules for book policy, book procurement, communication with the various journal publishing authorities, and rules and regulations for the usage of the library. Located on the first floor, the library of the institute has a separate reading arrangement where students and faculty can share their ideas and explore the world of the pharmacy. The carpet area of the library measures around 150 Sq.m. The library has a book issuing counter, a desk for the librarian, a stack for books and journals, a Reference section, Section for Novels. Access to the library can be done from 9 a.m. to 5 p. m. on all weekdays. Ms. Juri Devi, B.Sc, MLISc. manages the library. At present, the library has a collection of 450 book titles and 2074 book volumes, 7 national and 8 international journals in the field of Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, and Pharmacognosy. The college management invests more than 1 lakhs yearly for the upliftment and up-gradation of the book collection annually. Near about 300 readers are enlisted in the library register and on average more than 50 students use the library every day including faculty members. Three books are issued for students for a period of 10 days. Separate registers are maintained for daily entry and issue for faculty and students of each batch. Reprographic service is available to all at a nominal cost at the photocopy center situated on the ground floor in the office room. Besides the circulation of books & periodicals, the library staffs are always ready to render reference services to readers. Recently the library is under the process of computerization and online access of the library collection, where the user can see the status of a book. For assuring security, the library is installed with a 24 X 7 CCTV surveillance system. With the limited financial resources, the college, in spite of this the college is trying to develop a library that is equivalent to international standards. It is the aim of the library team to keep the library updated to suffice the needs of staff and students.

The college has A doctor, nurse and pharmacist are present at all times in the institute premises for immediate treatment in case of any kind of casualty. The treatment for any injury occurring on the campus would be covered by the institute itself.

The college has The Computer centre of PIPS serves as the hub for computer educational services pertaining to the needs of each and every student. The Centre manages 30 workstations equipped with sophisticated software for student and faculty use. Our centre plays a crucial role in supporting advanced learning by providing students with the opportunity to train on widely used and emerging in silico software such as AutoDock, Discovery Studio, ChemDraw, ADMET tools, and more. The Language Laboratory software installed in the Centre allows the students to improve their quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills to prepare themselves for internationally accepted standardised tests such as GRE, TOEFL, IELTS etc. In addition to that, the centre is fully equipped to handle almost every modern learning tool required for student development.

The college has a guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.

PIPS hostel has excellent infrastructure with fully equipped modern facilities and is readily available to the boarders. These hostels are fully secured for students and administered by the resident hostel warden.
