RIVER accepts the scores of two national-level entrance tests: the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programmes (CUET UG) for admissions into undergraduate courses. Generally, admissions for NEET take place from the early months of February to early March, while CUET UG typically takes place in May.
Postgraduate courses are conducted by all institutes through their own PG Entrance Examination. In the M.V.Sc, the candidate's B.V.Sc exam marks together with the PGEE exam determine eligibility for selection to the degree. Admission to all these M.V.Sc programmes is based on a weighted score derived from the examination marks of the B.V.Sc programme (80%) and the performance of the PG Entrance Examination (20%). In order to qualify for admission into the M.V.Sc programme, students have to score a composite minimum of 50% from the two marks of B.V.Sc and PGEE.
The quality of education imparted is good, with regular annual exams (theory and practical) being held on a yearly basis. The curriculum followed is on the basis of MSVE 2016 regulation. Chances of landing a job after completing the course depends a lot on the aptitude of the student.
