      The School of Broadcasting and Communication (SBC), located in Mumbai, has expertise in media and communication studies at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.       The School of Broadcasting and Communication admission cycle typically aligns with the academic year, which usually begins around July or August. While specific dates may vary each year, prospective students are advised to start preparing their applications well in advance, ideally by early spring. 

      School of Broadcasting and Communication Application Process

      The phases of application to the School of Broadcasting and Communication, Mumbai, would be as follows:

      • Login to the web portal of SBC to make use of the online application form.
      • Fill in the personal and academic details correctly in the application form; one must not make any wrong entries so that the admission process is not hindered.
      • Uploading the required documents, the essentials of which are:
      • Payment of application fees through an online payment gateway. The amount for different programmes and types of applicants may vary as follows:.
      • After application, one may note down his application number, and it may be referred to in further correspondence.
      • Depending upon the requirements of the course as well as the institution, short-listed candidates would be called to interview and even more tests.
      • Selection shall be on account of academic record, performance in an interview (in case called), and other related criteria which institutes may seek at their discretion.
      • Email or the institute's website would be used in informing selected candidates. The candidates would have to go through the admission process and pay all the necessary fees while carrying original documents for verification purposes.
      • In general, new students are usually expected to attend an orientation programme before classes begin.

      School of Broadcasting and Communication Eligibility Process

      The School of Broadcasting and Communication offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with different admission criteria for each level. The candidate must have passed the 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a known board for undergraduate admission. For postgraduate programmes, a bachelor's degree in any discipline from any recognised university is generally required.

      The School of Broadcasting and Communication provides a total of five courses in BA and MA with specialisation.

      SBC offers an undergraduate programme named BA Mass Communications with a 30-seat intake basis. It can be joined either on the merits of the respective candidate through merit basis at an entry level during a 10 + 2 equivalent examination. Such a programme encompasses the holistic aspect of mass communications.

      School of Broadcasting and Communication MA Admission Process

      • The MA in Mass Communication is a postgraduate course with an intake of 25 seats. A bachelor's degree in any discipline can be the qualification for admission. Academic records are evaluated and there may be even an interview to assess the aptitude of the candidate for the field.
      • The MA Broadcast Journalism is a specialised programme concentrating on television and radio journalism; 25 seats are available. One would assume this programme requires at least a baccalaureate degree and also possibly relevant experience or internships in journalism.
      • The MA Advertising and Public Relations course intake is 25 students. A bachelor's degree from any discipline with a background in communication, marketing, or any related field makes one eligible for application. There may be some review of an applicant's portfolio or previous work in advertising or PR as part of the application process.
      • The MA Journalism course accommodates 25 students and focuses on making print and online journalists. The programme is open to graduates in any field, but a good command of language and current affairs knowledge would be an added advantage.

      School of Broadcasting and Communication Documents Required

      • Passport photograph
      • Scanned copy of mark sheet in 10th and 12th
      • Bachelor's degree certificate and mark sheets (in case of applicants for postgraduation)
      • Certificate(s) of any relevant work experience or internship
      • Statement of purpose or essay (if required for a particular programme)
