Seemanta Engineering College, Mayurbhanj, or in short, SEC, is an engineering college started in 1997. The college is situated at Mayurbhanj, Odisha, and the college campus occupies an area of 51 acres and 40 decimals. Many people do not know that SEC is an affiliated college with AICTE approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. Class strength of the institute comprises 14, 84 students and 72 faculty, where the institute is imparting 12 courses under four degree courses. SEC stands for a broader variety of specialities in engineering and technology areas.

Seemanta Engineering College has access to a list of essentials provided for the improvement of its facilities to suit the students’ needs. The campus has got the boys’ hostels and girls’ hostels to ensure that the students get a conducive environment in which to live and study. This library has about 50000 books, including textbooks and reference books for the B.Tech and M.C.A. courses, and 38 international journals and 55 national journals. In the physical infrastructure facilities, SEC provides students with a sports ground and other indoor game facilities. The college has annual intercollegiate sports and brings out its teams in university competitions.

SCI post offers seven diverse curricula: six of BTech, 2 of MTech and three Diploma and MCA programme. The total student intake right across all the courses that are offered is 1484. The offered BTech programmes include Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. The MTech programmes are only in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. The college also offers diploma programmes in civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering.

The criteria for admission in various courses at SEC involve pre-medical and engineering national or state entrance tests. In the case of B. Tech courses, 90% of the seats are still reserved for the JEE (Main) merit list, and the remaining are from the OJEE counselling. Out of the total 100%, the remaining 10% is filled through the NRI/management quota. Eligibility requirements for the lateral entry into the second year of the BTech programme are determined based on OJEE ranks. The admission for MTech programmes is based on GATE/ PGAT (OJEE) only. The admission in this course is done through OJEE/NIMCET rank. DET counselling is used for admitting students to the diploma programme.
