Susruta School of Medical and Paramedical Sciences, Silchar Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The hostels are four for boys students having approximately 749 single and shared room accommodations. The Hostels are furnished with basic facilities, Hostel seats are limited and every student may not get a seat in the hostel. The availability of seats depends upon the vacancy in the Hostel. A separate Booklet Hostel border and conduct Rules of the Hostel are also available.

The College has Health Centre, managed by experienced Medical personnel including a Lady Medical Officer, supported by paramedical staff. The center caters to the medical needs of the University community. The university is issuing Health Cards to each student for extending Medical facilities to the students efficiently. In case of emergency, an ambulance service is also provided to transfer patients to Silchar Medical College, around 10 km from the campus. However, expenses related to medical emergencies and hospitalization shall be borne by the parents/guardians of the student concerned if not covered by the Insurance.

The College has a well-equipped Gymnasium that exists for both ladies and gents. Interested students, faculty, and staff members can enroll their name for availing facilities in the Gymnasium.

The new building has a total plinth area of 38,700 sq. ft. The main function of the Library includes the collection and development of knowledge resources, technical processing, organization, retrieval, and dissemination of information to the end-users including the academic community of Barak Valley in particular and the entire North Eastern Region in general.

Since its inception in 1994, games and sports have been one of the important foci of Assam University’s endeavor to facilitate the all-round development of student’s physical and mental abilities. Every year an Annual Social Meet is organized in the University where along with cultural activities, indoor and outdoor sports are held.

Assam University Computer Centre was established in March 1997. It is the central hub for ICT-related services for Assam University. The National Knowledge Network (NKN) Point of Presence (PoP) is commissioned in the Computer Centre. This acts as an Internet gateway for the campus-wide university network. A separate 10 Mbps connectivity under the UGC-Infonet Scheme is also commissioned in the Centre for provisioning the resources that are available under the scheme to the university campus-wide network.

In addition to state transport bus services, eleven buses are also available for the benefit of the students. There are also three buses for the staff members of the University to communicate between Silchar and the University Campus.

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students.
