What is Microelectronics

Microelectronics is a field of engineering which deals with the study and manufacturing of small, tiny, even microscopic electronic designs and components.

It is a foundation of electronics science and technology, as well as information science and technology in the 21st century, with the development of modern high tech.

Microelectronic course subject is usually meant for ambitious and highly driven engineers with great potential due to the course program being difficult.

With the microelectronics industry growing and developing continuously over the past several decades has led to the rise in demand for students from this degree course for employment opportunities.

Microelectronics engineering is offered in “Bachelors of microelectronics engineering” (BE/BTech) and “Masters of microelectronics engineering” (ME/M.Tech.) degree courses.

As the demand for small and less expensive electronic devices grows, the field continues to expand. The main areas of focus in microelectronics engineering include reliability, research and manufacturing.

  • Must have appeared for entrance exams with the required score as per the guidelines of the university or institute.

Entrance Exams  Microelectronics

With thousands of aspirants in an engineering course, various entrance tests are conducted national, state and university level for admissions to degree courses of engineering, including microelectronics subject. These engineering entrance exams in India provide opportunities for individuals to get admissions into well-known prestigious institutions for pursuing the course.

  • MHT CET- Maharashtra common entrance test (MHT CET) is an online mode of exam conducted every year by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) to grant admissions for engineering and technology courses (BE/BTech) in the state.

  • JEE Main- JEE Mains is national level entrance exams conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) every year to grant admission for engineering courses. It is a gateway for admissions to IITs and NITs. It is a computer-based online exam.

  • VITEEE- Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Examination (VITEEE) is the common entrance test for admissions to VIT Chennai, VIT Andhra Pradesh, VIT Vellore, and VIT Bhopal. It is conducted by Vellore Institute of Technology, and it is a University level examination. The mode of examination is online.

  • JEE Advanced- JEE Advanced is conducted by IITs of different states in rotation once every year. It is a national level entrance test for admissions to a prestigious institution of IITs in India. It is an entrance test for undergraduate engineering course degrees in IITs. The mode of exam is an online computer-based exam.

Scope of Microelectronics in India and Abroad

The study of microelectronics has a great scope in India and other countries as well. One can even pursue this course abroad for better, larger future scopes in universities like Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of California, Berkeley, and many others.

The demand for this field of work has increased over time with the rise in electronics technology and precisely microelectronics. With science and technology becoming the key determinant of lifestyle today, it has greatly influenced the developing and developed countries which have therefore become a progress indicator of a country.

The competition among nations to achieve a technological advance in manufacturing micro and macro electronics devices at its best has been a competition among countries today, thereby increasing the job opportunities for individuals pursuing microelectronics degree courses and other technical engineering courses.
