What is Engineering Science

Engineering science is the study of a combination of disciplines such as mathematics, physics, engineering, biology and social science. It specifically targets mechanical engineering, computer, nuclear, electronic and aerospace engineering. It is also known as Engineering Physics. This discipline, unlike others, focuses on creating engineering solutions through deep & systematic understanding of engineering principles. Engineering Science is flourishing as one of the most promising careers in the whole wide world. Nearly 40% of the workforce in Silicon Valley is dominated by Indians. Many youngsters today are dreaming of pursuing a career in Engineering Science. All the important details like eligibility criteria, scope, jobs and careers related to Engineering Science are mentioned here in the article.

Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Engineering Science

Like any other course, engineering science courses also demand certain criteria that need to be fulfilled before taking admission into it. Given below are the criteria that need to be fulfilled by aspiring students:

For Undergraduate Engineering Science Course:

1.      Completion of higher secondary education with biology, maths and chemistry from a recognised board of India.

2.      Admissions are granted on the basis of JEE advanced scores if required by the institution.

Engineering Science Entrance Exam

1. Joint Entrance Exam MainJEE is conducted by any of the Indian Institute of Technology for the selection of students who are aspiring to be engineers into the prominent colleges of India. Under this examination, 23 IITs and 9 other premier institutes offer seats to the deserving candidates. Every year, nearly 10 lakh students take this paper & only those candidates who get the required marks qualify for JEE Advanced.

2. Joint Entrance Exam Advanced (JEE Advanced) This is the second level of the JEE Main exam and is a lot more reputed as well as harder than the first level. For admissions into IITs, this exam is a must.

Scope of Engineering Science in India and Abroad

In the coming years, engineer scientists' demand may increase due to the rise in the number of industries. Since Engineering scientists study things other than engineering, it will have a good impact on the recruiters because these days, recruiters are not only looking for someone who has mastered a subject, but also a candidate who has high communication skills with minor knowledge of other things as well. Students can get jobs abroad as well.

The peculiarity of this course allows the engineering scientists to merge several concepts and ideas together. It allows them to develop and endure new technologies for various range of applications. India offers several Engineering Sciences courses.  It is a very new yet peculiar program in India. It allows students to understand the basics as well as specialise in their own choice of subject. This is a discipline which is taught from a very long time in foreign universities.

which is best among iit hyaderabad engineering science or NIT warangal coputer science

Abhishek Roy 1st Apr, 2021

If you are interested in Computer Science & Engineering as well as Excellent Placements you may pursue CSE from NIT Warangal.

Otherwise, I believe Engineering Science from IIT Hyderabad might be a better option with a sea of opportunities in both industry and research. If you have any plans to pursue UPSC CSE or Examinations like CAT, GMAT prefer IIT Hyderabad over NIT Warangal. IITH has a huge locational advantage being only the 4th IIT after IITB, D & M being located in a Metro Cit, near IT, Tech and Finance Hubs of Cyber City and Secunderabad, hence providing huge scope and impetus to training and placements.

what are the difference of engineering science and engineering physics course in iit colleges? which course is best?

keerthana sreekumar 23rd Oct, 2020

Engineering science:  This program generally focuses on the general application of various combinations of mathematical and scientific principles which include analysis and evaluation of engineering problem. This will apply to the  field research like human behaviour, biology, statistics etc.

Engineering physics: In this program mainly focus on the advance physics topic just like physics major . Mainly tends to work on the technology and science .

Both the courses are good, but engineering science is an interdisciplinary course,so more door is open for careers. But does not mean another course does not have career. However, it is up to your interset in the subject and field.

hi, I written gate paper in Engineering Science (paper code -xe). I have done my in mechanical engineering . which nits accept (xe gate paper) and which branch or department can i get. ???

NILUTPOL Student Expert 27th May, 2020
Since you have written GATE paper in XE, you won't be eligible for jobs into the PSUs. XE paper is quite easy compared to other paper codes as you have many choices out of which only two has to be attempted. XE paper is specifically for studies into M.Tech and direct PHDs. So you can get into NITs with your GATE XE score.
As you have done bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, you can get into NITs for mechanical engineering by giving XE paper. All NITs take admission through XE paper.

Engineering Sciences (XE)syllabus majorly divided into 3sections.The first section isGeneral Aptitude and the second section is Engineering Mathematics which is named as section A is compulsory for candidates. The third part comprises sectionsB to H andcandidates have to choose any two sectionsto appear for the exam.
Hope it helps
